1 billion is possible. At the bare minimum this is still going to end up being the highest grossing DCEU movie.
first Venom, now this! People got it wrong, you don't have to make a great movie, you just need 2 things
1-Make a movie that no one believes will be a hit and is roasted
2-Aim for the middle. Don't try and make a great movie, just be okay
@ganon15: They're not but Jason and Gal have cited Zack as being a key component to their success for both their respective solos and roles altogether, the American Film Institute awarded him during their 2017 ceremony and the official job description of the executive producer is to oversee production on behalf of a studio. He's equally instrumental in the success of both films as the rest of the casts and crews.
The Chinese love movies with lots of CGI at the moment so it's not really suprising they would love Aquaman. Aquaman will also play for another 30 days after its initial 30 days is up in China so it may actually hit 1 billion.
And lol at the people who said DCEU was dead. DCEU is following the MCU, the 6th film in the MCU made 1 billion and it looks like the DCEU 6th film may make a billion but will definitely come close.
Jesus Christ. Chinese people are weird. They make every movie that is generally a generic blockbuster, a huge hit over there. They saved movies like Warcraft and Transformers.
There is a reason generic blockbusters exist - They are fun to watch.
Aquaman was awesome in that regard. Let's face it, superhero movies aren't meant to be good movies. When you break down any of them (barring some exceptions) you will quickly find a pile of shit where you expected some writing. That goes for both MCU and DCEU.
@thatduderox: It's weird to think that it's those guys that are what's in right now while the mainstays (Bats and Kal) are on the sidelines for the foreseeable future. Not to mention that we're getting a Birds of Prey movie and a Suicide Squad pseudo-reboot from James Gunn way before we get another Bats or Supes movie.
On-Topic: I'm thinking maxing out at $850 million. The overseas numbers are what's gonna put it over WW's really good domestic numbers.
@worldofthunder: It's just desperation. They want to downplay the success of Aquaman, but there's really no logical way to do so, by all accounts, this is a win. Therefore, they result to illogical ways, like saying this would be a flop without China (which, for the record, it wouldn't).
