Predict Aquaman(2018)'s box office numbers

Honestly. I don't see it beating WW. If it's good, maybe 700 mil? DCEU has such a stigma on it nowadays.

DCEU is compromised, Aquman ain't the character and Momoa ain't the actor, that will change the wind. They need good Batman, Joker or Flash performance. Marvel built marginal characters after huge success of Iron Man, Winter Soldier and Avengers. Here, DC will have to save its universe with marginal characters after huge disappointment of their Bigs. No, that's not happening.

It probably won't be ground breaking culturally, but there aren't many movies that primarily take place underwater. It could be ground breaking from a technical standpoint with some of the best underwater effects we've seen.

This. Test audiences loved Aquaman, and since it's been plenty of time for mainstream audiences to forget about Justice League, BvS, and Suicide Squad, I think that general audiences will be up for this.

Plus, this movie will have good timing. It's only real competition will be Mary Poppins Returns. And maybe Bumblee, but I think Bumblebee could flop.

Agreed. Wonder Woman and Black Panther might have gotten an initial boost in viewings due to diversity, but it was positive word of mouth that actually made both so successful. There are plenty of people who don't watch a movie unless they hear really good things about it, so plenty of movies can live or die on word of mouth.

The stigma against the DCEU is very real and until they make multiple good films in a row it will not go away. Another thing to consider is the counter marketing campaigns Disney will run against it. Each time Aquaman has something come out for it Disney will counter with MCU news to drown out the Aquaman talk. Expect Disney to also spam market Mary Poppins to try and snuff any possible hype Aquaman can generate.

Shazam will face a similar battle due to releasing between Captain Marvel and IW2.
