Does anyone know of parodies of Wolverine that exist in non-Marvel material? I know that there are a LOT of parodies of Batman, Superman, and a few other characters, but I don't know of any real parodies of Wolverine besides the one from Codename: Kids Next Door (Wintergreen). Does anyone know of any that might exist?
That Garth Ennis one from The Boys. Can't remember the name, but it's hilarious.
What else do you expect from a writer who has an irrational hatred of superheroes in general and Wolverine in particular?
Man do I despise Garth Ennis. And I hate The Boys most of all.
@shroudofsorrow: Garth Ennis doesn't seem to hate all superheroes, just a special hatred for certain ones. He wrote a super respectful Superman back in Hitman 34 as an example.
As for hating The Boys, to each their own, but I found it hilarious and entertaining.
@vertigo-: I would have liked it better if he had toned down the anti-Superhero rhetoric and suggested that only some superheroes are corrupt and need to be eliminated/monitored, rather than portraying them all negatively. Also, I hate scatological humor, which is present throughout his writing.
@shroudofsorrow: But...not all of the heroes were assholes. Look at Starlight, look at Love Sasuage, look at the entire SuperDuper team as another example, none of them were assholes or corrupt at all. Also, with an entire series about a group of operatives who go around keeping the superheroes in check, you have to expect a large amount of anti superhero rhetoric of some sort.
@shroudofsorrow: Well there are 5 to 6 appearances on Top Cow. Mostly team up s with Witchblade and Darkness IIRC.
What was the character's name? Or are you referring to crossovers that feature Wolverine? Because that's not what I meant. I meant characters separate from Wolverine who are parodies of him (in the way that Hyperion and Supreme are parodies of Superman, for instance).
Simpsons had a quick little parody(probably more than once)
And these here are my reasons for hating it. I'm one of the most devout Ennis haters you'll ever meet, and The Boys personifies everything I detest about his writing.
But thanks for naming the character!
@michaelbn: Yeah, I’m not sure how many modern comic readers are familiar with this 80’s/90’s indie comic behemoth since it never had a cartoon series or movie.
Speaking of indie, it’s not a comedic parody, but there’s certainly similarities between the Wolverine character design and 1987’s horror comic, Faust.
