With the economy the way it is, it's hard to afford all the comics that you want to read and there are a lot of people cutting back on their pull list so....

If you could only buy one comic a month to read (or one title), which would you choose and why?

Me... i'd say Batman by Scott Snyder. Even though i feel like more of a Marvel guy, I love Snyder's work. It might be different if Ed Brubaker was still writing Captain America but i'm going with Batman.

Invincible. It's consistently great, it's pretty self contained, and it has a nice balance of everything I look for in comics (Action, drama, humor, etc.).

Either Action Comics or Hellblazer. Probably AC, the way it's going now. I guess I wouldn't even have the choice in a couple of months haha.

Right now, I'd choose Thor: God of Thunder. It is fantastic.

Either Talon (It was the first real comic book I read and it's excellent) or The Walking Dead. Kirkman is fantastic, the plot twists are superb, the art is magical, and it's a well-rounded, well-written series.

Mine would probably be Justice League

However, if this is a genuine question from someone who's only going to read one a month, I'd advise picking something on limited runs, such as Punisher:War Zone or Daredevil: End of Days that way every 4-8 months you'd get to choose again, thus maximising your budget :) sorry if that's a boring answer :p

Also probably Saga for me. I'm really liking it and it's my kind of comic outside of superhero stuff.

Probably Fatale or Saga right now, all though I like Bloodshot a lot. SO if I had to choose one, Id say Saga.

Hawkeye. My biggest problem with this comic is that it reminds me that every other comic I currently buy isn't as good.

I'll have to go with invincible because it has everything I love about comics. Great stories, great characters and amazing art, it has drama suspense but due to witty humour it never gets too grim.

Hmmmm.... tough one. I think I'd have to say Guardians of the Galaxy.

I had a hard time choosing between that and Captain America... But in the end JR JR's artwork really brings the book down. For me anyway.

This.

For Marvel it would be Hawkeye

For DC it would be Batman and Robin (Batman is a very close second though)

For Valiant it would be Shadowman (Bloodshot's a close second though)

For Image it would be Saga

Overall though, I'd still probably go with Hawkguy.

EDIT:

Really? Only one book and you pick a series that hasn't even had a first issue yet? I like the book so far too, but damn. Would you mind terribly if I asked you what else you're currently reading?

im a die hard marvel fan and i love the F4, but i'd drop all of it for Saga, after his work with Y Vaughan can do no wrong in my books and Saga is quickly becoming a favorite in my books

Deathstroke if it wasn't canceled.

Though since it is I'd stick with Green Arrow.

Avengers for me.

I have infinite faith in Hickman's writing, and it's really shaping up to look like a long-term plot with lots of exciting developments (Ex Nihilo on Mars, the Incursions, the Last White Event, AIM locating the final crash site, Infinity)

Probably FF or Hawkeye. I love them both at the moment, Batman, Daredevil and Deadpool would the most depressing to drop.

I also have to go with Snyder's Batman but Garth Ennis's Red Team is also very promising and will love to see how that plays out but right now it is Batman.

It'd be a toss up between All New X-Men and Hickman's Avengers. I'd likely go with X-Men because of nostalgia.

Well I'm really excited to read about the fallout from his death. Pete Tomasi is an incredible storyteller, and it wouldn't be fair for me to drop his title just because one of the characters in his book was killed by someone else. I'm really interested in reading the 5 stages of grief arc, and how his supporting cast will help him along in each stage.
