New Tom and Jerry series is coming to HBO Max

WarnerMedia released an HBO Max trailer, and listed a bunch of projects coming in year 2021. One of those projects is a new cartoon Tom and Jerry in the Big City.

Its also the hardest Hanna-Barbera property to do something new with without completely changing its repetitive formula. But I've grown past that phase where I was really into Tom and Jerry.

I could never get into this show, it was just boring to me. On the contrary, I always liked Sylvester and Tweety.

Either way, Warner Bros is basically becoming the new Disney, in that they're redoing decades old projects that offer nothing but disappointment (most of the time), just for their pockets.

Love Tom and Jerry and while some of the more recent cartoon that featured them weren't bad, they are still not as good as the original, even though their movies are actually decent. Still I hope it's at least good enough.

Tom and Jerry boring? For shame, man :p

HBO is going to need more than cartoons to get people to subscribe. Apparently they're having a rough time getting people to sign up.

I love Tom and Jerry, but I'm probably not going to watch this.

I still don't see anything in HBO Max that justifies the price. I mean Disney + has Mandalorian, Netflix has Stranger Things( among many others). HBO Max doesn't seem to have anything that could match those right now and it's more expensive than them.

I love the old Tom and Jerry cartoons from the 40’s and 50’s, however they have not been able to recreate that magic in any of the Tom and Jerry TV shows or movies made since. I think it’s because of the violence. Also, how do you do a Tom and Jerry for a modern audience in a post Itchy and Scratchy world?

How can Disney+ or Netflix beat that kind of original content ?

I will agree that for kids Disney+ is a better choice. And I will agree that Netflix is not only their own content.

Oh, I agree that HBO has some of the best original content, however, most of them are old news. I'm talking about ongoing shows. Amongst those shows that are actually ongoing, I don't think any of them match Stranger Things in terms of popularity.

Who should really cares about popularity and if it's ongoing or not ! Only quality should prevail.

And I thing that no ongoing shows anywhere has the quality of Succession, currently going on !
