"I don't know what you are, or where you're from, but you just wrecked our home. There's not a chance in hell we're surrendering."
"Like I tell my classes, when one of us fails, we all fail. We were friends before, now we're more than that. We're teammates. Zordon's right. Some of us are embracing this. Some of us are taking it seriously....others are not. And eventually that's gonna get someone hurt. Maybe someone we care about. You think Rita cares if we're busy or if we're tired? You think she'll let up because we have homework? I'm sorry to say it but, if protecting all of us means I have to push you all a little harder, to stop being your friend....then so be it."
This will be my Respect Thread for Jason Lee Scott, the original Red Power Ranger and will be the version from the new 2016 and beyond comic series, which can be viewed as a reboot. Much of the same character backstory is the same with Jason joining Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly as the teenagers with attitude that Zordon picked to be his Power Rangers with Jason being the leader. The team eventually fights Rita's Green Ranger Tommy Oliver but they manage to break her spell over him and convince him to join their team. At this point, however, the story in the comic and the story in the TV show take different turns.
This thread will be divided into the following categories:
- Equipment
- Skill
- Speed
- Strength
- Durability
Feats marked with a "*" happened during a crossover.
Equipment
Blade Blaster
- A weapon that can be used normally as a blaster and then after folding out a blade, can be used as a melee weapon. Jason uses this to shoot at Scorpina when she was fighting Tommy. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #02)
- Jason's Blade Blaster is strong enough to free him and Tommy after the two of them were encased in what appeared to be rock. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #18)
Power Sword
- Jason stabs a large monster in the hand with his Power Sword and causes him immense pain. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #05)
Helmet
- Jason's helmet allows him to breathe underwater. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02)
Communicator
- Jason's communicator was upgraded by Billy to allow him to communicate with the other Rangers wherever they are and to allow them to teleport wherever they want instead of just to and from the command center. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #10)
Teleporter
- Jason, like the other Rangers, can use his communicator to teleport to different places. Here's Jason and the other Rangers teleporting to a village in the Carathian Mountains. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #18)
Skill
- At six in the morning before school, Jason practices his karate in the Angel Grove Youth Center. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #01)
- Trini notes that she has studied martial arts before but after she morphs, she knows moves before she does them. Jason then agrees by saying that Billy, who has no fighting prowess, turns into a lethal weapon after morphing. This suggests that being a Ranger and morphing gives you innate fighting ability, on top of what you already know and can do. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #02)
- *April O'Neil would later echo a similar statement when she morphed into the Pink Ranger. She had never fired a bow and arrow before but after morphing, she feels like Robin Hood. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #04)
- Before becoming a Ranger, Jason had already been very skilled at karate, studying it since he was a little boy. He teaches a class at Angel Grove even and his own sensei told him that he has a knack for instruction. - (Mighty Moprhin Power Rangers Issue #02)
- Jason and Trini have a sparring session where he's seen giving pointers to her before she trips him up. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #03)

- The Rangers fight a large group of warriors on another planet after switching powers and using each other’s weapons. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #16)
- Jason uses his Power Sword to briefly clash with and fight Scorpina, Rita's second best fighter after Goldar. The fight mainly happens off-panel before Scorpina retreats. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #02)
- Jason spars with Zack and Zack calls him a "machine" as he tires before Jason does. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #13)
- Jason helps fend off a bunch of Goldar clones with the rest of the Rangers. These clones were noted as being "improved on" from the original Goldar because they didn't have his mental shortcomings but still retained all of the original's physical skill. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #14)
- *The Rangers fight off against the Ninja Turtles with no side getting a clear advantage, even managing to switch opponents during the fight. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #01/02)
- *Michelangelo says that two of the Rangers are above average, most likely referring to Tommy (who had just fought all of the Turtles beforehand) and Jason. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #02)
- *Jason dodges a strike from Karai and then talks to Leonardo about the different sword styles they believe would be effective against her, showing that he has knowledge of these forms enough to understand the pros and cons of using them against a new enemy. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #02)
- *The Rangers fight Shredder who had stolen Tommy’s powers, and although their powers are taken from them, Shredder tells them that their skills are considerable. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #03)
- *The depowered Rangers fight off members of the Foot Clan and then hold off Putty Soldier Elites (the combination of the best Foot Soldiers and Rita’s putty for Putties) before retreating. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Issue #04)
Speed
- *This isn't a feat but a statement and it's from the crossover of Power Rangers and the Justice League so its Canonicity is subject to debate, but going off of the other Rangers' feats, the assessment from Batman that they are all enhanced individuals with increased speed, strength, and durability when morphed is accurate. - (Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #01)

- Jason appears to dodge a lightning blast from Rita Repulsa.- (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #01)

- Jason intercepts and blocks an attack from an alternate future version of Kimberly, the Ranger Slayer. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #09)
- Jason runs away from large dog-like creatures and finds out they can’t maneuver that well and tricks them into running straight into a tree. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #14)
- Jason blocks an energy blast from the Stabasaurus Rex on his Power Sword. - (Go Go Power Rangers Issue #17)
- Jason scales a large cliff and treks through various areas of a desert trying to reach Ninjor’s temple. He then would learn to dodge his air blast the third time he saw it to not get blasted out of the temple. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Lost Chronicles, From Here to Despair)

- Jason pries apart metal bars to let prisoners escape. - (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #18)
Durability
- *This isn't a feat but a statement and it's from the crossover of Power Rangers and the Justice League so its Canonicity is subject to debate, but going off of the other Rangers' feats, the assessment from Batman that they are all enhanced individuals with increased speed, strength, and durability when morphed is accurate. - (Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #01)
