Spider-Man, by far. It's obvious to anyone that Peter has much higher lifting strength than Luke; one might think the latter strikes harder (based on how effortlessly he can knock out normal humans), but I don't see him capable of hurting characters like Giant-Man, Thanos or Cull Obsidian with only his strength.

Luke had some great feats in S2, but I was wondering people now think he's stronger

Lifting Strength:

Loading Video...

In this feat Spider-Man catches and lifts a landing platform, for starters I don't think anyone will disagree that Luke has never lifted something nearly as heavy as a landing platform.

But what makes this feat even more impressive is that Spidey didn't just lift it, he caught it. And since the terminal was falling off him it would have been considerably harder to hold it up and not get crushed, I definitely can't see Luke doing this.

Striking Power:

I'd give Striking Power to Luke, above he kicks a large car and sends it spinning in a circle. I can't see Spider-Man doing this based off of his consistent feats, and definitely not without momentum.

Spidey has some impressive strikes such as staggering Giant Man, although most believe this is an outlier which is understandable.

Spidey also kicked a bus onto it's side but had a ton of momentum as he was holding on to War Machine after he had just been flung by Giant Man.

Superior by quite a bit in terms of raw strength, sorry if I didn't make that clear.

The car wasn't that large. Cap's kick here is more impressive:

I disagree, Luke kicked the car a much greater distance and although the truck Cap kicks was likely heavier it doesn't seem heavier to an extent where it compensates for the distance of Cap & Luke's kicks.

And this thread is about Spider-Man, not Cap. I can see why you'd believe Spidey hits harder, but we have no way to prove this. As lifting strength doesn't correlate to striking power.

Cage has better piercing durability and striking strength. Spider man has better strength and overall durability. Think of Luke Cage as a slightly stronger captain america without the shield.

Peter did blatantly have trouble in a grapple with Cap. Not massive trouble, but he definitely wasn't going to overpower him easily. Just saying.

Spidey was physically pulling Cap (look at his arms) while Cap was doing a decent job of resisting him.

@jedixman: @sy8000:Honestly that moment was weird. I would call that a low showing for spider-man all though its not like Peter is the only one who's struggled with cap. We also saw Cap grab iron man at some points in civil war and there is the whole scene with thanos where cap briefly held him off. Honestly I think the Russos are just bad at depicting proper power levels and reflecting those power levels in fights.

Spider-mans own feats like catching the jet bridge and lifting that rubble in home coming should put him far ahead of the super soldiers. For scaling stuff him stopping Bucky's arm easily and catching Cull's hammer should also be way above Cap.

EDIT: Never saw Luke Cage season 2 so no comment on that.

@jedixman: low showing and a Russo force Cap wank scene

Spiderman has far better feats than Luke and Cap has better strength feats than Cage Spiderman has way better showings in Homecoming and IW being the Cull hammer feat and the concrete collapsed building

Definitely not. Spidey isn't nearly that strong, I'd say he's a mid tier in Raw Strength, and Super Soldier tier in terms of Striking Power.

To me it looks like Spidey's required muscles were already stretched out before he started pulling against Cap, giving him no further leverage to apply force. If you try to apply force like Spidey is trying to do, then you won't generate much pull.

Probably because of inexperience and lack of skill. Otherwise he should have bent his knees

Can Super Soldiers break 4 inch thick glass?

Spider-Man had huge momentum with that kick.

Cap was able to break glass with a punch while underwater where it's significantly harder to move, and he broke Submarine glass, which is designed to withstand high pressures as they go deep underwater.

Cap also had no momentum compared to Spidey.

Spider Man both lifting and striking power.

@subline: But he generated the momentum under his own strength. I don't see any super soldier breaking 4 inch thick glass with any momentum. The cap showing doesn't compare

Fanboyism at it's finest... Cap's kick sucks compared to Cage's one.
