MCU Ultron or DCEU Ares: Which villain was better?
Ultron was Ok
Ares ruined Wonder woman for me
Ultron people who don't only say that because he wasn't Freaking Thanos level of twisted evil it really pisses me off when they say he was too funny

Ares was better than the Stark-impersonator-bot.
Was he strictly necessary to feature like he was? No, not at all, I think the movie could have been done without him. But I still rate him as better because he A) felt menacing once you knew he was there B) did put up a good fight C) wasn't irritating to listen to. I call Ultron a Stark impersonator for a reason, and thats because when you listen to him you realize his AI is more or less based on Tony's personality, and thats really one Tony too many for a movie thats already in danger of being eclipsed by RDJ (try and imagine an Avengers movie without him).

@tj849: I really liked Wonder Woman and was into it up until Ares showed up. It was obvious Ludendorff was not Ares, but Diana's reaction to the men still fighting was perfect. Then Ares actually appeared and to me it felt like wonder woman devolved into a big CGI fight that didn't fit with the rest of the Movie. The twist that it was the British General was fine but keeping Ares as him really ruined how menacing he could have been. Also I believe that the only way action is good is if it has emotional weight behind it which I felt the earlier fights in this movie had but this fight was missing and it really only seemed to exist for there to be a big "Boss Battle" at the end. Then after Ares was defeated all the soldiers stopped fighting. People will say this is because they saw a magical fight and whatnot, but it really was pretty poor storytelling that you really couldn't tell for sure. The only really great thing for me during the Ares fight was Steve Trevor's death. Now you may say that none of this really has to do with Ares but you would be wrong because this is literally all Ares did in the movie. In my humble opinion I think Ares should have been an idea that Diana could not fight and yes I know Ares is not like that in the comics. Particularly because this was at the end of the movie it left a sour taste in my mouth when I left the theater.
Ultron. Ares was there for like 5 minutes, got his butt kicked and died. Ultron was an actual character.

Ares, as disappointing and dull as he was, at least he had somewhat of a coherent motivation and tried to be an intimidating force. Ultron's reasoning was never fleshed out and he was almost never portrayed as a serious threat.

I honestly hated Ares in the movie. Ultron I actually loved in Avengers but the film in general was a bit meh.

Ultron.
Ultron. I don't accept a guy who is supposed to be an ancient Greek god, having an English gentleman mustache. Its rediculous. In terms of roles though, Ares is just a string puller, he just pushes the first domino and watches the effect take place. He is more of a gamer in that sense. Ultron on the other hand, saw the flaws of humanity and wanted to improve it (even though that was kind of ehm impossible) but nevertheless, in his own twisted way he wants to help. Both good in terms of motives, but i will take Ultron. Ares went down like a sissy.
- MCU Ultron in a godstomp!!!!...Ultron actually has charisma and traces of substance.
- Ares was so effing terrible and cardboard its not even funny.
Ares didnt have much development. I actually think Ultron was quite decent despite the movie not beeing very good. Ultron for me
Ares for me.
Ares. Ultron started out great and looked fantastic, like ripped from the comic pages fantastic, but he just got waaaay too sassy and quipy and just got annoying to me after a while.
I wouldn't even mind the quips if he had put up more of a fight. He got his ass whooped more than Loki in the first movie.
Ares was in the movie for 5 minutes. Him and his mustache where the most obvious flaw of the movie
His presence was felt throughout the movie thou. In a way, he was always there.
Beata
Ares easily, because he had some much screen time to flesh out his character and motivations....jk Ultron was better imo.
Ultron
I just couldn't help but see Lupin everytime I looked at DCEU Ares and I just couldn't take him seriously.
Plus, his acting was kinda off at some point.
Exactly, why cast professor Lupin
@spidey_jackson: Yeah. The final battle wasn't even against him, more against his fodder army. Such a shame the trailers made him seem amazing and he started out so great...oh well :-\ ...here's hoping Hela, Klaw and Thanos are great
