MCU Thanos vs Comic Thanos
Mcu thanos
MCU Thanos was great, but while he had a good motivation he doesn't have the 30+ years of constant character development that Comic Thanos has. It's not a fair comparison

I dont actually compare MCU Thanos and his comic counterpart. Both are driven by completely different motives, one shows far more emotion, the other can be plain evil at times.
Personally I loved MCU Thanos but would still prefer 616 Thanos. In reality this isn't a fair comparison as the only things they have in common are their status (feared titan) and name.

Comic Thanos by far.
MCU Thanos is extraordinarily impressive, but he will never have as much development nor the spectacular theatricality as his comic counterpart.

Starlin is the only writer that seems to give thanos character development. Thanos character has regressed a lot in recent years.
@incursion2: This answer, and every variation of it, is what I agree with. However, what's interesting is that despite all of their differences, MCU Thanos still feels the same as his comic book counterpart when he is on the screen. This is something that is very difficult to pull off.
They do have major differences though. MCU Thanos has a messiah complex. Throughout the duration of the film, the Russo Bros treated him as if he were some holy warrior of sorts.
This is a stark difference to the far more egotistical, Nihilistic and megalomaniac that Thanos is in the comics. MCU Thanos did have those traits, but they were reduced. In doing so, Thanos became far less operatic. Which is good because otherwise it would have been silly to watch. He still has conflicting emotions. He still seems to be a nihilist (of sorts). He still seems to act like the amoral philosopher he is in the comics. Ultimately, the comics have spent way more time developing him than the movies ever could.
I'd say that MCU Thanos is the perfect Thanos for the MCU. As in, his strength, intelligence and overall power fit him into the position where his 616 counterpart is at in the comics. I'd even argue that MCU Thanos is more powerful and dangerous in his Universe than 616 Thanos is in his own. But as more threats on the scale of Dormammu and Ego appear in the MCU, Thanos without the stones will fit in the equivocal spot he was at in the comics. More dangerous because of his mind and ambition than his overall power. Still, he maintains the feel of Thanos, with minor things being changed to better accommodate him for the MCU.
