MCU has its memes, but DCCU has Martha
All I know is Martha was hungry for the Bat-D, it ain't gonna be Clark screaming her name soon.

Nah, an Oedipus Complex is not one of Bat's damages.

I'll be disappointed if they don't have a naked, nasty, sweaty sex scene in the next movie.
@the_kidd: all-star batman probably had.

@smja123: oh trust me, it will be made fun of
I don't think it was stupid. It wasn't Batman saying "oh our muma's have the same name let's be totes besties! <3". It was Bruce seeing Clark, defeated, feeble, no longer a God and just begging for his mother to be saved, and than a woman who he loves comes in and defends him. It was Bruce not only realizing Superman was a man, but that the two of them aren't even that different.

Agreed, that's what is was..however, that's not how it came across. A problem easily solved by having Clark refer to Martha as "mom" and not by her first name.
@manwhohaseverything: Who calls their mom by their first name anyway?

All of this, but it was made ridiculous by what seemed like forcing the similarities between them with their mum's name.
@nickzambuto: The idea is good but it wasn't executed well.
@mrhamwallet: Well "forcing similarities" isn't the best description. As far as I'm aware, that's just following the source material. Bruce and Clark's mothers are both actually named Martha in the comics.
@nickzambuto: Not what I meant...tbf I didn't phrase that well. I meant using her name to pander to people who wouldn't have got the connection, rather than him just calling her mum.
To be fair I saw it as Batman seeing himself become the villain, but since they did not developed Superman that well, it can easily be made fun of. If they did it would had been a much better scene overall, with Superman ideology of seeing good vs Batman ideology of people being corrupt to be evil. It seem like they developed Batman well, just not Superman.
It was cringeworthy and laughable. He should've just yelled out "mommy". People still trying defend this turd. You'd think after Snyders comments about secret identities and costumes people would acknowledge how bad this film is. Those looking for depth and thought provoking in a Snyder film are never going to find it.

Yes and tbh, it's the one scene that'll unfortunately, define the movie. The movie had some very good things in it, but that scene will be hard to live down. Simply not well-executed by Snyder or Terrio or anyone involved. Like I stated earlier, a problem so easily solved. How'd they not catch it? It would've taken about ten minutes to correct.
It was dumb stop trying to defend it. Batman was dead set on killing him...then changes his mind for the dumbest of reasons... They should have had WW or Lane calm him down and explain to him Superman is a good guy.
It was dumb because if you.paid attention to the film you.saw that the moms having the same name would play a role in their coming together. It was telegraphed worse than a wrestling match. Plus they had no reason for that to matter, since Batman had a visceral loathing of Superman throughout the film then a 'oh snap, you have a mom too?' moment that suddenly he views Clark as human?
I get what they were going for, it's Snyder you'd have to be blind not to, but the execution led to one of the worst scenes I've seen in a movie in awhile. It's more ceinge-worthy than the dreaded omelet joke everyone was so hard on from AoU.
