Said from the start IW = EG but now he wields both hammers hopefully the lowball or EG and highball of IW can balance out now.

I mean, this is obvious, but people are big Thor fans and didn't want to admit it.

As you know the Russo's are currently hosting a Reddit AMA, and in response to a redditor's question about Thor's power level this was what Anthony had to say.

No Caption Provided

IIRC The russos stated that pre EG thor could've survived the snap(or had a better chance to), while fat thor had no chance.

Maybe it’s talking mental/emotional strength lol. The feats, in-universe circumstances, and plain logic certainly don’t show EG Thor to be his prime.

Welp, I’m confirmed wrong. I don’t see how an out-of-shape and depressed Thor is stronger than IW Thor but whatever, they said it.

EDIT: thought about it and Feats > WoG

Their statements means nothing, just compile them together and see almost all of their "statements" contradict each other.

@mattyboi: from what I remember, that was due moreso to the mental state that Thor was in when he wanted to use the gauntlet

For this, if anything, it proves that Thor’s main problem really was more so mental than anything. Hell, that seems to correspond with the fact that Thor was originally meant to have his body be “back to normal” by the end of endgame

I figured this was the case once it was said that they were originally gonna have him become ripped again when he fought Thanos but Hemsworth wanted him to remain that size.

@rogueshadow: Not to mention there's even BTS footage of fat Thor doing backflips, so he was never meant to be weaker physically in the eyes of the Russo's and everyone else involved.

I dont think mental state has anything to do with it.(tho that would explain how iron man was uneffected by the power)

They also referred to his physical shape. Agreed.

1. That makes no sense.

2. If so, it just means Thor in his fat self gets his IW feats. Not sure how this messes anything up.

A lot of people seem to think that IW Thor beats Thanos, this statement just confirms that he doesn't since Prime / EG Thor couldn't.

It messes a ton of things up. Thor's speed was terribly slow in endgame, his lighting cloak was practically non-existent, and Thanos absolutely throttled him. Considering a lot of people on this site think "Prime" Thor can beat Thanos, this changes everything.

@kalkent: It doesn't change anything because he never used any abilities. Worthy Cap performed better than Thor so with this statement he is far above Thor.

Worthy cap literally had all of his blows tanked by thanos and then got absolutely curbed once Thanos took him seriously. That showing is over-rated as hell. And also, the lightning cloak is supposed to be an automatic ability, not sure why "Prime" thor wouldn't have it on unless something happened to him.

If Thor was in his prime, him looking slow means nothing. This is an incredibly consistent trope throughout the MCU. Him not wanting to use his lightning cloak means pretty much nothing, especially when the only time he's in a position to use it effectively, the Battle of Earth, he's off screen for the most part. And for the Thanos thing, you and @subline are right, this does change that. But I still have incredibly serious doubts here. Using WOG all the time doesn't work out well, or Superman can tank 300 db and MCU high tiers are million-billion tonners.

@kalkent: Thanos was taking him seriously he just couldn't do anything against Cap. It's not just his lightning cloak but his other lightning abilities and he never even spun Mjolnir.

He got caught off guard from a mjolinir throw from behind. Then cap hits him with a few combos and a bit of lightning. As soon as thanos gets his sword back, he completely wrecks him and could have killed him quite easily.

@namebk: Uh no he didn't. Thanos dropped his sword when he got hit from behind by the shockwave Mjolnir created on Cap's shield. He didn't have his sword the entire time Cap performed those combos and his lighting. He only got it once he slammed Cap to the ground and kicked his sword up as it was lying down.
