T'Challa is the King of Wakanda and the eldest child of T'Chaka and Ramonda. As the Wakandan monarch, he became the holder of the Black Panther mantle. Following the death of his father in the bombing attack orchestrated by Helmut Zemo, T'Challa had set out to kill the Winter Soldier, who was widely believed to be responsible for the attack. During his attempt to find the Winter Soldier, Black Panther had joined a Civil War between the Avengers, where he sided with Iron Man. However, Black Panther eventually learned that Zemo was really the one who had been responsible for his father's demise, as he captured Zemo, handing him over to Everett Ross, while he also vowed never to allow desires of vengeance to consume him again.
Upon returning into Wakanda, T'Challa was officially crowned King, before he attempted to track down Ulysses Klaue, who had resurfaced after several years. However, T'Challa failed to capture Klaue and instead was forced to bring Everett Ross to the city to save his life. T'Challa's leadership was challenged when Erik Killmonger came into Wakanda, having killed Klaue and challenged T'Challa for their throne, as Killmonger bested T'Challa in a duel and took the crown. However, T'Challa had survived the duel and, with the help of M'Baku and his family, returned to Wakanda where he defeated Killmonger. Vibranium Suit
The new Civil War Guidebook confirms that Panther's suit is bulletproof. I put the section in a red box so that it's easily noticeable:

- T'Challa was able to stand in direct line of machine gun fire from a helicopter without any damage to him or even hindrance. - (CA: CW)

- T'Challa saves Baron Zemo from shooting himself in the chin by placing his gloved hand between the gun and Zemo's face. - (CA:CW)

Upgraded Suit
- When T'Challa returns to Wakanda after the events of Captain America: Civil War, he is given a new upgraded suit created by his sister and science whiz Shuri. This new suit is soundproof and takes in kinetic energy and stores it for later use, allowing Panther to create large AOE blasts by releasing all of his stored up energy. His new suit is also housed in the necklace he wears around his neck, all it takes is a conscious activation and the suit basically "grows" over T'Challa, taking out the need to change and take his old suit with him everywhere. - (BP)
- The same goes for his upgraded suit. Shuri explains to her brother that all the bullets that have hit him have charged his suit, so when he jumps on the hood of an SUV and releases that energy, it crushes the hood in on itself and causes the car to flip out of control. - (BP)

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Captain America The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War tell Collider that T'Challa is "very well trained" and "trained at the highest levels to fight":
Q: What is his power? Is it the costume? Is it that he’s been training like Jason Bourne?
JOE RUSSO: It’s a combination of everything. Certainly the costume gives him a level of protection and invulnerability because of the material that it’s made of.
ANTHONY RUSSO: Which is vibranium, for non-fans, and it’s the same material that Cap’s shield is made of.
JOE: It can absorb the energy, so it’s much harder to damage him as a character, and you can see that in the movie he can take a lot of punishment including bullets to the face. He is very well trained. He’s from one of the wealthiest countries on the planet, so there’s great infrastructure there; very technologically advanced country. So he’s been trained at the highest levels to fight, but he also has his own superpowers, which derive from the mythology of his nation. Those will be explored more in Black Panther, it’s clearly evident when he’s able to fight the Winter Soldier out of costume, and go toe-to-toe with him, that he is an enhanced individual.

Director Ryan Coogler says that T'Challa fights like an "African king" and that all the attention in the room would be on him and shot a certain scene in the movie in a particular way to convey to the audience that, like in the comics, Wakandans are all really skilled at fighting and that you don't want to fight any of them:
"In my mind, I saw Wakandans as a noble people, an ancient people, but in the comics, they’ve always been people who can fight really, really good. They’re incredibly dangerous. In all of them, that’s one thing that’s consistent. You don’t want to fight a Wakandan, whether it’s T’Challa, whether it’s any of them.
The casino scene, for me, was about Wakanda’s trying to hide. They’re trying to blend in. They’re trying their best not to make a scene, and eventually, they just can’t hold it in anymore. So I wanted each one of those three characters, they way that they fought to be different, and to be equally impressive.
T’Challa is a super-powered guy who fights like a king, like an African king, and has super strength and is doing these powerful things, and everybody’s attention is probably on him. They’re trying to jump him, you know?"

(Marvel's Black Panther Prelude #01) Although only having donned the armor for a week at the time, King T'Chaka tells T'Challa that it's as if he'd been the Black Panther for a lifetime:
(Marvel's Black Panther Prelude #02) Okoye tells King T'Chaka that T'Challa proved himself highly effective in the field as the Black Panther, and this is coming from one of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's special forces:
Panther kicks Bucky twice before the latter can react, defends against Bucky's attacks, lands another kick to his face this time, and then comes flying in to hit him with a knee attack that sends the Winter Soldier flying back strong enough to dent the metal structure he hit:
Panther uses a metal structure to perform a spinning "Superman punch" that breaks Bucky's guard. He then dives at Bucky and flips upside to grab him, pinning him to the ground on his back while Panther was situated in a perfect position to strike at his face with his claws:
Panther nearly breaks Bucky's wrist, rolls and and brings Bucky with him, positions his arm in an awkward position, and then spin kicks him into a wooden crate strong enough to stagger the super soldier:
Panther maneuvers around Bucky and pins his metal arm, then throws the both of them down a flight of stairs:

The Captain America: Civil War Guidebook confirms that Black Panther has superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes:
T'Challa is granted superhuman speed, aglity, strength, and durability from the Panther God, and we learn from the Black Panther movie that these powers are given to him by drinking a heart-shaped herb:

Director Ryan Coogler describes the Heart-Shaped Herb as the source of T'Challa's powers, which grants him super strength to fight on par with Captain America and heightened senses. Credit to @jashro44:
“The Heart-Shaped Herb is how Black Panther achieves his powers. He can fight hand-to-hand with Cap, who’s a supersoldier, so he has super strength and heightened instincts that give him his enhanced abilities,” Coogler says. But not just anyone can partake of its powers. “The Heart-Shaped Herb is what Black Panthers over the generations would consume, once they earn the title, which gives them their physical edge.”

Agility
Panther is able to land easily on his feet after sliding down a large building and jumping down the last story:
Panther is able to go straight into a Chinese Get Up (Kip Up) after being uppercut by Bucky's metal arm:

T'Challa is sent flying off a destroyed car onto the side of a building, runs on the side of the building, and then jumps off and grabs onto Klaw's SUV, ripping the tire out thanks to his claws:

Durability/Endurance
(Marvel's Black Panther Prelude #01) From the Black Panther Prelude comic, T'Challa is shot in the shoulder with a vibranium bullet:
(Marvel's Black Panther Prelude #02) Panther takes two grenades, one in his face and one right in front of him, with the only sign of injury being he was most likely dazed after the first one:
Without his suit, T'Challa survives being thrown back by a large bomb and only receives what appears to be cuts and scratches while his father unfortunately died:
Without his suit, T'Challa takes a punch from Bucky's metal arm in the chest but isn't even hurt or out of breath after. This is impressive because that's the same arm Bucky punched through concrete with:

Panther is hit square in the back by Captain America's shield but is able to bounce right back up. This is impressive because Cap's shield, after being tossed, has lifted soldiers off the ground as it KO'd them, embedded itself in walls, and even penetrated Ultron's armor:

He is sent flying to the floor below and crashes onto a craps table but takes about 20 seconds to get his bearings and continue outside to chase Klaue. Even Okoye and Nakia who saw the whole thing weren't worried about his well being and knew that he would catch up. - (BP)
