Get a Room!!!

Watch the Video.

From reading the comments i notice many people didnt saw the video.

No genre has died, but they once were a fad and then the fad died.

Westerns, Romantic Comedies and Slashers are the best example.

The question its what its going to kill the FAD.

Well Marvel has made cbms the biggest thing in hollywood so I really dont see them ruining cbms. But I do worry about DC flooding the market with crap and causing fatigue. just look at DCtv.

As a DC fan it'll probably be DC. They're 0-1 in the DCCU and marvel is like 7 good and 3 bad. Money's on DC ruining, but dare I say these movies live long and well for 5-8 more years

I agree with this. Hopefully were both wrong, and no one screws up.

Pretty much. This is a fad, despite being immensely popular now it will die out eventually.

@beaconofstrength: No Marvel caused the "nuclear arms race" of superhero movies which thereby caused the competing companies to go bigger and make more movies of their own in a shorter time span than they originally wouldn't have done if Avengers never happened

I want both DC and Marvel to stay on track but to be honest it will probably be DC's doing before Marvel even makes a mistake. I wonder if Image Comics will prove to be the underdog one day when they finally decide to get into film.

DC will end up putting out a boatload of brainless, crap films aimed at 15 year old boys. They're already doing it with their horrible tv shows.

@sprior93: marvel makes movies for kiddies/families, Dc makes movies for teenagers/young adults/adults. Two different products, something for everyone.

well I think one problem is most movies these days are just horrible.

Super hero or otherwise.

I think they got wowed by special effects and forgot story line.

So you could ask what is the lifetime of the movie industry as a whole and is there a chance movies can be something you want to watch again and again as they did in the days when story line meant something.

When you left the movies after a great movie you would want to go right back the next day and see it again. Star Wars , The Matrix , Star Trek 2.

Super heroes movies have just started to get good , but they have to remember the hero they are forged from , they forget that and it will all fail.

I don't know if the movies will ever ruined, but Max Landis made a pretty good point in a rant about "superhero" movies in Hollywood. While I enjoy the movies I agree with his views.

True enemies of the superhero movies:

A) oversaturation

B) the idea that the only way to do a comicbook movie is Marvel's way

The only film genre that ever got ruined was the silent film due to technological advancement and was never really a genre to begin with.

The stupidity of the question itself irritates me greatly.

Trick question: the answer is both.

There's the only reasonable answer. Over saturation will kill the film genre. Do we really need this many superhero movies by 2020? That's 25 superhero movies in 5 years!

  1. Avengers Age of Ultron
  2. Ant-man
  3. Fantastic Four
  4. Deadpool
  5. Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice
  6. Captain America Civil War
  7. X-Men Apocalypse
  8. Suicide Squad
  9. Dr. Strange
  10. The Sinister Six
  11. Spider-Man (now in the MCU...sort of)
  12. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
  13. Wonder Woman
  14. Thor Ragnarok
  15. Justice League Part 1
  16. The Flash
  17. Avengers Infinity War Part 1
  18. Black Panther
  19. Captain Marvel
  20. S.H.A.Z.A.M.
  21. Avengers Infinity War Part 2
  22. Justice League Part 2
  23. Inhumans
  24. Cyborg
  25. Green Lantern (re-boot)

A movie being based on a comic book or graphic novel is not a bad thing. There's a lot of good source material in comics for film adaptations such as Men in Black, The Road to Perdition, 300, A History of Violence and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The problem isn't comic book movies, it's superhero movies in particular. There are just too many of them and it's just like Westerns in the 1950's or Slasher films in the 1980's. The public will get burned out and Hollywood will move on to their next exploit.

I don't think 4 superhero movies a year is somehow gonna ruin all superhero franchises but if it comes to that then i hope superheroes from Valiant , Dynamite, Image & other Indie's superheroes get big screen treatment before Marvel & DC ruin it.

And btw whats up with Spawn? How come he never get reboot in all those years is beyond me.

And those are only Marvel and DC.

If Valiant, Image or others join, that list gets bigger, worst if Sony decide to make he Spin Offs.

People forget the past way too often.

Neither. If Catwoman, Joel Schumacher's Batmans and all of the Marvel movies from the 1980's-1990's (The FF, Cap America...two of the worst movies ever made) and films like X-Men 3, Ghost Rider, and so on couldn't ruin this genre, nothing can.

Yeah, I don't get why people are so intent on the belief that the genre will die. Marvel and DC aren't going to stop making money (people forget what a huge box office success MoS was, and that the average fan enjoyed it). Oversaturation could cause a slowdown, but definintely not a halt. For the sake of all comic fans, hopelly this trend never dies.
