Marvel Confirms Numerous 'Luke Cage' Castings

There's been a lot of casting rumors surrounding 2016's Netflix show Luke Cage. Today, Marvel confirmed numerous rumors.

First, Simone Missick (Ray Donovan) was confirmed to be playing Misty Knight in the upcoming series. She's involved with Heroes for Hire and the love interest for Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist.

Marvel also confirmed that Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) would be playing Shades. He's a friend from Luke Cage's past and now part of a greater criminal element. Showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker said that “His Shades will be someone you hate to love.”

Frank Whaley (Under the Dome) is coming to Luke Cage as Rafael Scarfe, a friend of Misty Knight and police officer with the NYPD. It was also announced that Rosario Dawson would be making her way to the show as well, returning as Claire Temple.

Luke Cage will be coming to Netflix in 2016.

Still no Iron Fist Casting. Arrrgh

Is it me or this is shaping up to be the Rosario Dawson-verse?

Seeing as Iron Fist is at least a year out, it'll be a while. Luke Cage got casted early because he appears in Jessica Jones.

The Netflix casting has been pretty stellar so far I'm really excited to see them.

@darthtanka: Makes sense since these are stories involving street level fighters and she is supposed to be the Night Nurse version of the MCU.

When people are more interested in seeing Iron Fist then Luke Cage in Luke's show, that's a problem. Luke needs someone to make him interesting again.

Sweet! MK is cool. Although I am wondering about how will they integrate her arm and whether she will be part of The Defenders.

I'm excited for every one of these shows.

And I'm totally cool with Rosario Dawson being the glue that connects it all.

Until, perhaps, Yandroth shows up to bring all the characters together to create the Defenders? ;)

Is it weird that now all I can think of is wanting Colleen Wing to show up so we can get a Daughters of the Dragon series?

When the original shows were announced, I said Daughters of the Dragon would've made more sense than Jessica Jones.

@mrkareemruiz: I think a lot of it is the desire for seeing Iron Fist and Cage together. They have the second greatest bromance of all time. Ted Kord and Booster Gold will always be first.

I'm thinking Iron Fist may appear in the Luke Cage series as guest star, just like Cage is gonna appear in JJ. But so far, we haven't got a casting appearance of Iron Fist.
