Marvel and Sony Partner to Bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe
IM. SO. EXCITED!!!!!!!
I did really like Garfield but I know recasting is the right decision. I'd be ok with Logan Lerman. I would like to see Dylan O'Brien in the role.
I really hope they keep Garfield.
Excited about the news, but I am a Garfield fan. So I am worried that his time as the web-head is over. I really don't want another reboot and another origin story. My hopes is that they could just go off from what has already taken place with the last two ASM films. But I know that they will probably start from scratch. Even so, I am still excited with the news.

I wish we could upvote comments on here. I really do.
I'm actually kind of bummed/apathetic about this. Marvel already paints with all the same colors and it isn't like blockbuster filmaking is a calssified aesthtic as well. But Spider-man at Sony provided a different avenue for superhero blockbuster filmmaking, they just had two truly terrible screenwriters at the head and no idea how to actually manage it all. Now it's just going to be another Marvel movie.
@regiebravo: Logan

That gif works on so many levels.
That's why I have it saved and use it for big announcement!

So It will be like the situation with Quicksilver, with different actors portraying Spidey in the MCU, and in another studios film?
I hope they don't replace Andrew Garfield.
But yeah..The rumors of 4 Marvel movies pushing back to make room for another Spiderman film are actually true...But it wouldn't matter much to me. Hell, if they can still get Garfield to reprise Parker, then I'll be cool with it, since he did a good job on ASM and ASM2. And if not Garfield, then I'd even settle for Logan Lerman.
I can't imagine the Civil War storyline without Spiderman, frankly. I'm actually really excited though, to see Spider-man in a movie with other heroes is going to be a nice change that might actually help the perception of the special effects in those films? For some reason the web-slinging just never looked realistic in the movies but perhaps being beside the Hulk and Iron Man might help. Still hoping Andrew Garfield keeps the role though!
Realistic web-slinging?
Since the only scheduled Marvel films before July 2017 are GotG2, Doctor Strange, Ant-man, Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War, it's safe to say Spider-Man will be introduced in the latter. However, i'm curious what role he will play since the original comic role wouldn't make sense with a new actor. They would have to go with Andrew or Toby.
Marvel's New Slate:
-Avengers: Age of Ultron(May 1, 2015)
-Ant-Man(July 17, 2015)
-Captain America: Civil War(May 6, 2016)
-Doctor Strange(November 4, 2016)
-Guardians of the Galaxy 2(May 5, 2017)
-Spider-Man film(July 28, 2017)
-Thor: Ragnarok(November 3, 2017)
-Avengers(Mauy 4, 2018)
-Black Panther(July 6, 2018)
-Captain Marvel(November 2, 2018)
-Avengers(May 3, 2019)
-Inhumans(July 12, 2019)
@mrmazz: I kind of feel the same way. The Raimi movies kind of diminished in quality as they went on. But the ASM films seemed to be taking it back in the right direction. I'm not sure why everyone complained about them. I thought they would have been terrible but they surprised me.
Are they really just getting involved so they can have Spider-man in the Civil War storyline? I thought his movies were good enough as a stand alone franchise. I'm kind of disappointed that they're turning it into a team up series. But they're gonna do what they're gonna do.
Does this mean we won't get that sinister six film?
I really hope they keep Garfield.
This, so much.

You did good.
This would be the post of the year. If there was such a thing as post of the year.
I'll be quite honest; I don't think I care who owns him, because what ends up the screen is not going to differ all that much.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the way I read it. Marvel can use Spider-Man, everyone is thinking Civil War, but Sony will STILL produce solo movies. How is this any different? Sony almost sank spider-man twice and all marvel gets a one off movie? I would have liked Marvel to have more control over the character. As long as Sony still produce spider-man movies, I have little hope.
Does this count as me being right?
...I'm thinking...2030 we get JLA vs. The Avengers.
Yes? No?
At the very least, by this time, I expect Spider-Man to be a Cinematic Avenger.
Won't happen, have a better chance of seeing X-Men vs Justice League. Though I agree Spidey will be back at Marvel/Disney by that time.
Doubtful.
Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.
This still worries me to no end. Sony could end up screwing up the entire MCU if they don't wanna play ball at some point or if one of their movies tank.
Hopefully this is true.

I'm really sad that the other movies had to get pushed back for this though.
@shadowsnake89: That's what I need to know! Is Sinister Six and pretty much everything just canned because of this.
@jwalser3: Most likely.
@feartheliving: I'm a little sad, but it's worth it.
