I think this has to do with all the comic book pros saying comics are in the best shape they have ever been. Lying through their teeth. Heck even on this site, very few discussions are actually had about the books anymore. The books have been on a steady decline since 2008 in terms of quality. In 2016, they went off the cliff and quit pretending they were even writing comic books anymore.
American comic books always had the issue of catering to a a very limited audience. Then a dramatic shift occured in the comic industry during the late 90s-2000 period. For decades american comic books were a medium, a holy ground for incels and male chauvinists and then suddenly during this period the industry strated catering to feminists and all sorts of other 'enlightened' beings, who stand on the exact opposite side of the spectrum. This transition was too rough and the industry lost all momentum. On top of that the movies became popular which made the comics irrelevant for the masses ☕
It was obvious. American comics are very different from manga. I think that comics are no longer relevant, because the films that are based on them are much more interesting to watch. Personally, I love reading manga very much, but I also love watching Asian dramas, which are also often shot based on the same manga.
@animefreak1: good lord that comic sucked assssss. What makes it worse is that the main character is a self-insert. The bad writing, terrible dialogue and unlikeable protagonist just put it in the grave.
If you told me a 13 year old wrote this, I would believe you because I refuse to believe a fully grown adult, SOMEBODY WHO CAN VOTE, can create something this bad.

Yes, sometimes I feel like I have just outgrown my love for Comics. It's just not like it used to be. Still like collecting Action Figures though. Manga is way out heavy on Comic Books in Sales.

Agreed, they were good before and sold a shitton but now? Its boring, repetitive, and bad in story. Plus character destruction

Where are the top chart billion dollar movies, or dozen season live action manga shows?
The truth is comics evolved. No longer on page. Its transform to movies, toons, and live action shows.
Manga is making bank as page turners and anime.
Also what sells more too in this day and age?Merchandise wise? Comic base merchandise or Manga base merchandise? I have a good idea which one mechandise wise overall brings in the most money. Let me know just in case.

@kaijuking: Exactly saying comics are dying is laughable when pop-culture wise they are bigger than ever. Manga/Anime while more mainstream nowdays is still reatively niche and doesn't translate well outside its medium.
