@absol123: Are you comparing to how many manga were sold in Japan to how many comics were sold in the U.S.? It's not the best comparison as you could say that comics are selling better in the US compared to Japan.

They are, but the comparison here is misleading, like most other comparisons I've seen in vine. First of all, the Manga list in op is series sales, which is the total sales of all the issues of a series released in 2018. You should at least be comparing individual volumes' sales, which would be this:

Secondly, the Manga figures are usually tankōbon sales, which are again not directly comparable to individual comic issue sales due to size and releasing schedules.

Why do some weebs always try so desperately to show how much better manga is compare to comics? (Which isn't really true.)

Comics are still more relevant worldwide and nobody really cares about how much these manga sells in Japan, it doesn't mean anything unless you live in japan or think sale number means quality. Not to mention the numbers here are misleading because comparing them individually doesn't mean much, comic industry is still earning a lot more compare to manga industry.

Comics never change. They keep writing the same stories from the same perspectives.

The world of DC and marvel is not compelling. More so marvel than dc who has gotten better.

1.) Heroes constantly fighting each other is bland

2.) The hero's themselves are played out and bland.

3.) There is never anything dynamic going on where they live it's always some cosmic threat.

4.) Next to zero diversity on any level.

5. Rehashed cross over events

6.) Too many iterations of the same character...hey let's make ANOTHER hulk!!!!

I mean and this is still with all the piracy.

Still I do want western comics to become great sellers again but something needs to change.

You just described most shonen manga.

I mean it was bound to happen sooner or later, also mangas are much broader covering many more genres than comics.

Can't forget Manhua's / Manwha's, I've been reading some really great manga from Korea / China recently, the art style is impeccable.

And what's great is that they're translated into English, Also I'd like to shout out light novels, they can be a pretty good read if translated properly.

-I wish comic's get back to they're best, I used to love the smiles batman and superman comics put on my face when I was a kid, but you just have to agree, manga at this moment in time are shredding the competition.
