Ill just copy and paste what i said before. Theyre both equal for me
Good comedy film.
Things it did better than MOS.... Humor, better side characters, better pacing, tone consistency
Things worse... Action scenes, intensity, the score, the villain, the side villains. the storyline
MOS had higher ceilings but lower floors as well compared to Spidey. Spidey was much more consistent in quality while MOS went from a stupid tornado Pa Kent death scene to a mindblowing first flight scene to an alltimer smallville fight to a stupid kiss in the middle of the warzone.
No scene in spidey was better than the first flight, world engine, or the smallville fight but no scene was worse than Pa Kents death.
8/10 Spidey, MOS 8/10 as well.
If spidey had better action sequences it would have edged it out but god damn the action sucked ass.
I'm a Spider-Man fan, and I liked MoS more. Both movies didn't portray accurately what their comic book counterparts were like in terms of personality, MoS more so than Homecoming, but I felt that MoS at least tried to tell a more emotional story, one that plays on Kal-El's pains of being a god among man. Homecoming, on the other hand, felt like business as usual, just another superhero comedy where a super villain is dispatched. It didn't feel like it said anything interesting about Spidey as the idol we know and love, certainly not when he has this whole idol worship with Tony Stark going on.
That "If This Be My Destiny" scene? Didn't like it either. The movie didn't earn that scene.
MoS. A lot of it is for the spectacle and for seeing Superman in a new light and in his first good movie. It really had a lot of effect and impact on me to see him innovated (though in an ambiguous way). I liked it a lot.
Spider-Man homecoming in all honesty didn't show me anything new. Nothing unexpected or deep. Nothing I hadn't seen before.
