Poll Lord Freeza destroying Planet Vegeta using his finger...is it canon? (35 votes)

Yes 83%
No 17%

Ok so a lot of us have seen the part in the anime where 1st Form Lord Freeza destroys Planet Vegeta using only his finger however (correct me if I'm wrong) the way in which he destroyed Planet Vegeta isn't in the manga. We can all agree that Lord Freeza did destroy Planet Vegeta anyway. So is the way the anime portrayed Lord Freeza destroying Planet Vegeta the actual incident...or is it just filler (and the real way that Lord Freeza went about it will never be known)?

So is the above filler or is it the real way that Lord Freeza went about killing off the Saiyans and Planet Vegeta?

No Caption Provided

To the left it shows what happened according to the manga but the action that Lord Freeza took to destroy Planet Vegeta isn't shown

Thank you all for your answers. So it seems we've come to a consensus that this incident is canon. I would like to see if anybody thinks otherwise and then state their argument/s.

Didn't DB Minus replace the movie as canon?

@midnightdragon18: Source? Because Kai also showed a little filler too. Though if that's true, then a certain someone is gonna do better in fights.

@midnightdragon18: No asking where is it said that Kai is canon, when it shows filler which isn't in the manga.

It was written by Toriyama so I don't see why not. Some people don't accept it however and that's where we get into a lot of headcanon like people accepting Gine as Goku's mother but not accepting the rest of the story for instance.

@wolfrazer: Dragon Ball Super shows "filler" as well, Gregory was an anime only character, but he was in Super.

Anyway Super uses Kai as flashbacks, so that pretty much makes it cannon

"Only using one of his fingers."

as if this is some sort of physical feat of a finger and not a ki attack.

He used all of his 5 fingers in the manga, but also didn't look like he had to charge his attack like in the anime.

@edbeatle: Yes. Father of Goku can't be canon since baby Goku would've already been on Earth as shown in Minus. Bardock also didn't care about Goku in Father of Goku which is different than how Toriyama portrayed him in Minus. I believe some of the events of the film are still canon like the battle on Planet Meat and Bardock getting his headband.

AFAIK the only canon movies WERE Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F, but were made non-canon by DB Super retelling of the events. Other than that the 2008 TV Special "Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return" (or something like that) is canon (though now that i think of it... there MAY be some date problems, would have to rewatch the special to check)

@rukelnikovftw: thanks a lot mate but what about the bardock movie?

Well neither the 90's one "Father of Goku" nor the recent one "Episode of Bardock" were written by Tori, dunno how much he had to do in either, but as far as EoB, the only thing I saw credited to him was Chilled's design.

So they are not primary canon.

EDIT: Also, as it was said already in this thread, the dragon ball minus one shot (which is fully canon) contradicts some of the stuff in Father of Goku (mainly Bardock's Attitude towards his family)

@rukelnikovftw: yeah but then you said minus was fully canon*

Well, Toei made the character but it was Akira (who liked so much the story) that incorporated the character to canon in the first place, talking about DB canon Toriyama's work is what composes it (save from the minor case of Super where even then he is still involved), Bardock is a non canon character made canon by Toriyama and his take of that in DB Minus is what's part of continuity, even showing Jaco in the story.

At the end the original manga itself show Freezer using his finger so there's not much to discuss.

Pretty much this, even if Bardock was not his creation, Bardock's canonicity to DB universe is that of DB Minus, cause its his only appearance written by Tori.

Bardock seems to be in space when 1st Form Freeza attacks the planet (but I thought Saiyans can't breathe in space...or is Bardock in the upper atmosphere?)

Wth?, is this for real? what is so surprising about this? he's just conducting the energy through one finger, if he had hair, he could conduct the energy through one hair if he wanted it too but it would just look ridiculous.

please cease with the stupid ideology of dissenting opinion = hater when nobody in the net has a unanimous decision on things, more so on this fact that saiyans being able to breath in space still being debated til now. true, there are people who intentionally ignore stuff but that's only proving you are also ignoring sound observation to it if you chose to ignore one side.

this might be trolling but this is becoming tiresome and quite frankly its wearing me down
