Like the MCU, the DCEU will have a "big surprise" before the year is over

After Justice League failed to provide the franchise with its big Avengers moment at the box office, it was clear that the DCEU was in trouble and in need of some reorientation, but with strong reviews and an impressive opening weekend predicted for the upcoming Aquaman, there’s a chance that this superhero saga might pull through after all.

What’s more, once Arthur Curry’s solo debut has arrived in cinemas, it seems that Warner Bros. may still have one more trick up their sleeve before 2019 comes our way, with Revenge of The Fans’ Mario-Francisco Robles taking to Twitter to share the latest rumor:

“Hearing whispers that #DC will give us one last gift before the holiday break at the end of December. No idea what it is, big or small. Could be a trailer, or an announcement.

Regardless, they’re gonna throw us one more bone before the New Year.”

I personally hope it's a new film slate with movies that will actually be released.

I thought the DCEU was dead?

It's not. With Aquaman's imminent success, it seems they're moving forward big time.

@solar_nerd: I would have never imagined Aquaman would be the saving grace of the DCEU.

All I want is confirmation is that Affleck is staying for the Batman and Cavill is still Superman.

Couldn't care less about Affleck but they need to get Cavill back.

So, looking around the net, the most common theories for what we'll get (that are not people joking or trolling) are:

A new trailer for Shazam or a first trailer for either Wonder Woman 2 or Joker.

A new official slate from WB for what DC movies will be getting worked on.

Confirmation regarding the Batman, Green Lantern Corps, or Superman movies and their casts (specifically regarding Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck).

An announcement for a new movie in production.

The last one I think would definitely be a waste, given WB has "announced" new DC movies they want to make left and right, so it wouldn't really mean anything.

I think they need to release a definitive slate

Green Lantern with Superman movie or MoS 2 gimme.

Possibly Blue Bettle film via The Wrap. To lazy to read something that is probably b.s. Besides, I'll be slightly pissed if they don't give cyborg a movie first. Also, where muh MoS 2 WB?

Why are they in a rush to put so many movies out, that’s how they burned themselves out last time.

They don’t need a cyborg movie. Authough I like the character, Vic has almost no good villains and supporting characters to finish a trilogy.

The Batman release date?

It'll probably just be a new Shazam trailer.

Yeah, he's very likely to be more of the MCU Hawkeye for the DC movies. Great supporting character and some interesting aspects to his life, but not likely to get his own solo movie.

Flashpoint movie announcement?

Hope it's a Man of Steel sequel with Cavill continuing as Superman

^Yeah, like that would ever happen. The chances of a Felicity Smoak movie being announced first are higher than this.

They're going to make solo movies for every major Batman villain before we see the Dark Knight himself on the big screen once more.

Just one thing. Why not? I mean it sounds like you're saying they can't just come up with new villains or supporting characters that actually work. Since when do movies have to follow what the comics do for a character? Cause they don't seem to be afraid to change around characteristics or what have you.

They can give him new villains, but that wouldn’t respect the source material. Its not only about him not having interesting villains though, he is definitely not the best character in the JL. His actual backstory isn’t that great and is pretty generic. I think a cyborg movie doesnt make too much sense when they could use someone like green lantern or the flash movie instead.
