Kylo Ren: B!tch or Beast?

This guy has me on the fence like a cat at midnight. On one hand his force skills are beast, but on the other he's so insecure and easily swayed. Plus a bunch of other reasons for both sides of the grass.

So on the bottom write which you think he is, then give your reasoning if you can.

B!tch. Not only was he beat and threw temper tantrums, but he let that one general dude talk back to him. Vader would have snuffed that fool.

because if Kylo had "snuffed" the general, Snoke would have "snuffed" Kylo.

Eh, can't say I'm overly impressed with Kylo in any regard really.

Rather than being a random officer, the guy he force pulls before asking 'what girl?' should've been Hux, would've been more badass. Similarly, rather than a random Stormtrooper taking Finn out, it should have been Phasma.

That said, I really liked Kylo, the whole point was that he was a Vader wannabe, wearing a mask and modulator he didn't need, showing off with his force powers when it wasn't really functional, totally losing his sh*t whereas Vader was cool and calculating, he was a raw and untampered. I wouldn't consider anybody who tanked a shot from a bowcaster that sent men flying through the air and kept on fighting a bitch.

All that said, I can just imagine teenage Ben being like Walter Jr. from Breaking Bad like 'oh my God, Dad, my name's Flynn Kylo Ren now!'

Also, why the hell is he called Ben? Leia and Han didn't have much of a connection to Kenobi, should've called him Lando, Luke, Bail etc.

He's honestly the best representation of a sith's mentality in movies imo. He's an angry selfish brat who wants everything to go his way and throws a tantrum when things don't work out. The sith are all about using your anger and he's the angriest sith seen in the movies.

He is a bitch but that's why he was my favorite character in the film. I absolutely adore the little subtleties they added to the character he felt more fleshed out because of it.

Yeah... it makes no sense. Maybe Ben is just a nickname in the films.

@rogueshadow: By that logic Vader should've just punked Tarkin, it wouldn't do any good but to make Hux look weak.

Hux was weak anyway, he came across as bratty and petty. I wasn't into the squabbling between him and Kylo.

Tarkin and Vader did not but heads, certainly not to the same degree Hux and Kylo did.

I like him as a character and he will grow in power as time goes on.

It's not how you start it's how you finish. Ren is a work in progress. He didn't really commit to the dark side until he killed Han. He will become a legitimate threat moving forward. But I do like how they fleshed out his character.

Vader obeyed Grand Moff Tarkin. If we are thinking of the same guy I am pretty sure he out ranks Kylo similarly to how Tarkin outranked Vader.

Tarkin is completely different. He has class and respect, which is probably why he obeyed him. Hux was much more in line with Motti.

Kylo Ren was a whiny brat and as intimidating as a little boy with anger issues and a machine gun, a lot less than a grown man without anger issues and a machine gun. I mean he literally runs away after that torture scene to cry to his mom master that Rey was mean to him.
Nobody watches New Hope and is like, Vader should be more like he was in Revenge of the Sith. No, wait. Anakin was better then that guy, he commited his greatest atrocities in that movie and while his turn was way to fast he had an motivation. Kylo Ren was like, well I could be more easily good than evil and I don't see the downsides, and apparently the light side of the force is faster to learn and more powerful now, but naw, I wanna be BAD, because my granddaddy, who wasn't evil anymore in the end, was evil.

But all the villains were lame.

Smoke, Smoak,Smaug Emperor Alien was lame. Its like a less creepy Palpatine with a less creepy voice that came out of nowhere.

That general dude was... "And then daddy will like me more than you."

Silver Stromtrooper lady was simply unnecessary and didn't add anything to the movie.

Meh. He looks cool, but I really don't care about him as a character. He seems really incompetent (along with most of the other villains, esp. Phasma). I wasn't impressed with any of the baddies in Force Awakens. I hope we'll get to see some real dark warriors in the next movie. Give me someone who actually seems like a huge threat.

@fallschirmjager: No I mean the guy that Kylo didn't make an example of. IIRC they were both talking to Emperor Snoke so the guy was a high ranking officer. Unless I'm forgetting something else. I brought up Tarkin mostly to show that Vader also took orders from someone other than Palpatine as well.

He brought life to the movie. His female counter was basically a "Mary-sue" and yes I forgot her name already. I saw the movie Saturday. He was something different and shook up the fabric. It was already stated that he wasn't born for the dark side and basically forced himself to join it. It was already pointed out he was mentally unstable and only interested in making decisions that would bring him closer to the dark side. Therefore being mentally unstable, his behavior showed that. Abusing his abilities with the force, meant he was becoming closer to the dark side. Doesn't change that he was a tough SOB. I don't recall any saber weilders in cannon film getting blasted and still fighting. His decision for Solo was tough and done to further his goal of joining the dark side. So it showed his dedication.

As a person he's a b*tch. As a character he was well done

Ren doesn't have an emotional handle on anything. He's arrogant, he loses his temper, he doesn't know how to discipline his men properly etc. but isn't that the point of the character?

I feel like we're not supposed to have a full picture of the villains quite yet. I know really nothing about the Supreme Leader or the Silver Storm Trooper and Kylo Ren is a character that is definitely still developing. I think episodes 8 and 9 are going to shed more light on them and do it in a good way.

`p.s his master Snoke who coming from New Jersey teach him some new fighting techniques in next move so won't get beaten badly by mary sue who needs no training in part 2 coming in 2018/19
