It's honestly amazing that a movie series named

KUNG FU PANDA starring JACK BLACK turns out to be better according to people than the movies on the GOD OF THUNDER and SON OF ODIN THOR himself lmao.

Easily going with Kung Fu Panda.

I think the Thor trilogy's main problem is that it never fully embraced what it was. Thor's comics are big and epic. It's literal gods and their adventures. Thor 1 and 2 were kind of bland and focused too much on the human characters. They might even have needed to hold themselves back a bit because the bigger a solo MCU is the harder the Avengers movies would need to work to top it. Then, in Thor 3 where it is more grand and focused on the gods and the adventure, the movie was too much of a comedy and almost nothing that was happening was being taken seriously or treated with any weight.

KFP 3 I don't think is as good as the first two, but there are still plenty of good parts. And for all their comedy, KFP 1 and 2 don't completely kill all of the tension and drama with constant jokes like Thor 3 did. I can genuinely get teared up and emotionally invested in so much of what happens in those movies.

I think that's a big difference. The Thor trilogy never really knew what it wanted to be, while the KFP trilogy was completely genuine about what it was throughout.

KFP films are more enjoyable but it bothers me that Po defeats the villain via a random plot deus ex machina power up every single time.

The third film was the most egregious in this regard.

Thor

@socajunkie:

That's definitely true especially in the third one but I think what they're trying to portray is Po growing as a person and a warrior. Every movie he has some character development.

First movie is him becoming the dragon warrior.

The second him coming to terms with his childhood tragedies and learning inner peace to get over it.

And in the third one learning about his real father and ancestry and learning about it and chi.

Every movie has a new thing. They never backtrack and I think that's a very rare thing in movies

Kung Fu Panda by far. Thor has the weakest trilogy in the MCU along with Iron Man, with only one genuinely good film which is still only on par with the least good film in the KFP trilogy (3).

First thing I thought of. But we also have:

Shifu and Tai Lung's fight and backstory

Oogway giving first Po and later Shifu wisdom under the peach tree.

Po and Tigress's friendship

Po's father remembering his wife

And those are just the one's off the top of my head.

The Thor movies have their moments too. Heck, my favorite stuff in all three movies including Ragnarok was the relationship between Thor and Loki. That's one aspect I think they really nailed.

Doesn't mean quality cannot be compared.

The Dark Knight and Infinity War are also apples and oranges yet people can choose between them.

Other than the last movie, the Thor trilogy hasn’t been very good. The first two Kung Fu Panda movies were amazing and even the last one was above average.
