Korra or Katara - Best character?

Objectively speaking, they're both equally well written characters, but a combination of nostalgia and personal liking of a certain type of characters made me enjoy Katara more.

In general I think A:TLA characters had more depth than TLOK characters, and Katara had some really memorable episodes from the original series, but Korra is an exception to that rule for me. I think Korra was a great protagonist and she was a really strong lead for the show with a strong arc. Honestly she was probably my favorite character from TLOK (aside from maybe Varrick), whereas Katara tended to be overshadowed by some of the more interesting characters from A:TLA. So my vote is for Korra.

Korra is definitely a better character than Katara. Her final arc in season 3-4 is amazing.

Korra, Zuko, and Aang are the three best written characters in ATLA/LOK.

I think Katara suffers from being the straight foil for a bunch of vibrant characters. Even when she's great she's pretty bland next to personalities like Aang, Toph, Sokka, Zuko and even Jet. Korra doesn't have as much competition, so it's pretty easy for her to shine through the LoK series.

I'm gonna go with Korra with this one personality wise.

Katara is kindhearted and compassionate, even to strangers. She has a motherly and more mature side, which may be considered boring to some, but these are strong and beautiful qualities. And even with her caring and gentle nature, she can be fierce when she needs too, and will do whatever it takes to protect her friends and loved ones. I thoroughly enjoyed her character and seeing her grow throughout the series. Like Katara, we all need to simply have courage and be kind.

Katara. Korra is super annoying.

Katara would never abuse Aang or let one of her friends get in an abusive relationship

I think Korra had higher highs and lower lows. Overall, I'd probably say Korra, since Katara was just a bit bland at times. Also, she married Aang. Why on Ba Sing Se did she marry Aang? You never sold me on that one ATLA lol.

Korra by far. She was the absolute best character in the series (both ATLA and LoK).

Wasn’t the biggest fan of either of them, but I’ll go with Katara

As a character I like her more than most the Avatar cast including aang. She's only weighed down compared to aang due to her side characters.

LoK is an abomination, and the reason why is mostly because of how awful Korra is.

Korra had too many low points and recurring character flaws for me to choose her. Katara's character progression in season 1 alone was more organic than any Korra went through.

Katara. A:TLA already had a clear trajectory for Katara's character arc from the jump. The Legend of Korra was meant to be a mini series at first, and once Nick ordered more books for it, things got off kilter for a bit. I think Korra's development in seasons 3 and 4 were great, but season 2 Korra is god awful and season 1 Korra was only just okay. Katara was more consistent throughout her series.

I really love both characters but what I liked about Katara was that she demonstrated that kindness, motherly compassion and other stereotypically "feminine" qualities does not necessarily go hand in hand with weakness and helplessness. Both rock, but I do prefer Katara.

I never found Korra likeable, at all. Her arc in book 1 and 2 was weak and below average. Her book 3 and 4 arcs were better than the previous two, tho overall, her character isn't that good compared to Katara.
