As long as Cavill is Superman I'm fine
I honestly thought I was the only one that liked Cavill as Superman
Cavil is a good Superman, he's just not given a ton to work with.
This isn't a shot against Zack Snyder, more just a criticism, but I feel his biggest weakness as a director, at least in his superhero movies, is that he has trouble letting the characters breathe. I certainly appreciate that he wants his movies to feel big and epic but the audience needs to know the character beyond when the entire weight of the world is on their shoulders. Snyder gets that Superman is important and goes through some real struggles but we need to see more of him beyond just that. That's why I like the Clark Kent reporter scenes in the BvS extended cut. I got to know the guy better.
His scenes in JL showed Cavil can be a confident, bright, and even happy Superman. We just need a script with a bit more balance. Snyder helped write Wonder Woman and that movie did a great job letting us get to know and connect with its characters, though both funny and serious scenes. One of my favorite scene in that entire movie was Diana just talking around the campfire to the men she was travelling with and it most certainly wasn't played for laughs. It's a good movie Snyder could take some pointers from,
