It seems Vegeta states this in association with potential and capacity to learn. However I think it’s been evident throughout the series that Goku has more natural talent, or perhaps they are equal and Vegeta just had a harder time due to his obstinance and pride. Goku consistently learns moves and techniques quickly, for instance learning the Kamehameha wave in seconds or attaining transformations quicker. During the Buu saga Vegeta admits to Goku having more natural talent than him, now in Super, Vegeta claims to have more talent. So what do you think? Who has more natural talent Goku or Vegeta??

Vegeta was just being prideful, Goku is the more naturally talanted of the two. Vegeta is a harder worker which is why they were usually somewhat relative in power but until Super, Vegeta was also inefficient with how he trained. Whis and more recently Pybara were his first on-screen masters and the most important revelation from Chapter 55 was that Goku polished his spirit back after Namek and Vegeta didn't do so until recently which means Vegeta has almost always been using his power inefficiently in comparison to Goku until now.

I've only seen through Buu Saga; but as of then no.

They both train equally hard; but Goku is always pushing for new techniques over and above just reinforcing what he currently knows (which he always does). Most of Vegetas training as of Buu saga was basically strength training. Not that, that's a bad thing; but I think Vegeta's pride prevents him from acknowledging an equal.
Thanks for reading,

I hate to say it, but I think Goku uses his natural talent better than Vegeta does with his. If Vegeta wasn't so prideful, maybe it would be different.

Goku has had more masters and is more willing to learn from others. Most of Vegeta's power just comes from intense training. So while his pride does get in the way I'd say he's a tiny bit more gifted than Goku. Seeing as if you put them together and neither had any formal training Vegeta would be stronger.

Also if he uses his power and trains inefficiently. Wouldn't that actually make him more talented? Seeing as he was never too far behind Goku in strength?

Yes, wasn't theme of saiyan saga all about hard work surpassing raw talent and privilege? Vegeta's problem is not lack of talent but being too prideful to learn from others like Goku always does and lack of motivation to look past basic strength training.

@kgb725: Pride can get in the way of anyone utilizing their natural talent to the full extent that they otherwise would have. Goku can and has utilized his level of natural talent to a slightly higher extent than Vegeta because he has less mental/emotional barriers that would hinder his physical abilities and skills.

Talent is a lot more than just physical attributes. Mental and emotional aspects of an individual contribute to one’s overall talent just as much.

Yes. When put on a level playing field of power Vegeta is bound to best Goku for 3 reasons:

1) Vegeta has a massive experience edge, not just because he trains 10 times harder but because he spent most of his life fighting

2) Vegeta is more creative in integrating his stronger ki blasts. He may not have instant transmission but when it comes to creating massive ki blasts he's superior (Final Flash has scared Goku, dropped Jiren, and would have Killed Cell).

3) Vegeta is naturally superior. Even Goku knows training and finding new forms is what gives him the edge over Vegeta.

Vegeta is more gifted while Goku is more obsessed and that is the difference between them... Vegeta was stronger than Raditz when he was like 8 years old, killing saibamen like it was nothing while Goku couldnt beat a martial arts human master like roshi and tao without some serious training...

Also Vegeta was getting stronger on his own through battles while goku was trained by Roshi, Korin, Kami, King Kai etc and also gained strength through battles...

It just seems like goku was beaten to near death more times than vegeta which allowed him to get more zenkais and also he learned from other powerful beings... Not to mention that he always wants to improve no matter how strong he gets...

Goku is just as hardworking as Vegeta but naturally more talented than he is. It has been that way since the beginning

@hypnos0929: actually vegetable has IT now... ironically his pride will keep him from using it

Ot:vegeta is definitely more talented. He's done just as much as goku has with far less... doesn't mean shit since carrot cake is the star of the show tho...(not to mention that toriyama and company loves to crap on vegeta for some reason)

Man DBS is just looking for excuses not to have to draw fights anymore

Reading the scans from left to right:

Before Vegeta could learn any skills from the Yardrats he had to undergo training to polish his spirit (it's alluded to that Goku had to do the same), later he released much more ki than anticipated when going for a normal finger blast, then in the last scan it was explained that until now Vegeta's body and spirit weren't balanced and hence was projecting his own powers very inefficiently. Since Goku did this training all the way back after the Namek Saga, Vegeta has technically been competing with Goku in power while at a handicap since then.

How can Goku have more natural talent than Vegeta? Goku is naturally a low class saiyan warrior while Vegeta is the prince, elite above the elites and we saw in the Broly movie that he was born with quite a high power level.

Goku has had a literal lifetime of training in order to build up his foundations. His knowledge is what surpasses Vegeta, he knows exactly what he needs to do in order to increase his power. But he’s not more talented, Goku was taught everything he knows while Vegeta figured out Goku’s training regimens and caught up all by himself.

No. Gohan's whole story arc up until the Cell Arc was his hidden potential. Gohan naturally has more latent power than both but doesn't have the fighting spirit of either of them. He's a book worm not a fighter.

I didn't read the recent chapters yet, but Vegeta is more "naturally" talented than Goku. He did the stuff all on his own while Goku needed training from others. However, Vegeta refuses to take inspiration from others or just takes physcial training for the majority of his time and doesn't look at the better picture like Goku does, which is why Kakarot is always one step ahead of him.

It depends on natural raw power and basic talent vegeta is superior to goku

Goku however always tries to be stronger each second never at least before super he did not train or learn new things that make him the character he is today.

It's an interesting question. Whis mentioned to Vegeta that his reason for training revolved around his need to catch up to Goku. In a way, that mindset is hindered in Vegeta developing as a fighter. He's not simply developing to be the best version of himself, but to be a better version of Goku if that makes sense I don't know. Also, he's never really had a teacher of his own to develop his talents until he met Whis and has been able to rival Goku more often than not in Super; He's really developed since then. Not only physically speaking, but mentally as well.

Not even close LOL.

Vegeta works extremely hard, but always falls behind Goku when it comes to his development of combat strength.

It is established throughout the entirety of DBZ and DB Super that with the same quality and quantity of training, Goku would always come out on top. For example, in the Cell games, Goku's HTC training with Gohan yielded far greater results than Vegeta did, even though Vegeta trained for twice as long as Goku did. Another example would be in the U6 Arc, when Goku and Vegeta sparred with each other, but only Goku was able to advance his power further by developing the Kaioken. In the manga, it was Goku's talent that enabled him to perfect SSB much earlier than Vegeta did, in which Vegeta acknowledged that he could not at the time.

By the time Vegeta's talent of pushing his limits showed in the ToP by unlocking SSBE, he was still far behind Goku because Goku already unlocked a similar level of power long before that point. By the ToP, Goku unlocked UI Omen, and later on MUI, a level far beyond SSBE. Unlike Vegeta, Goku's talent allowed him to literally master the fundamentals of Whis' training in less than an hour.

It is plainly obvious that Goku's talent far exceeds Vegeta's. Moreover, it is simply unfair to say that Vegeta is more talented than Goku using that scan. It is comparing Vegeta's talent currently with Goku's talent during the Frieza Saga. Goku's talent in combat had far developed since then, and he had not received further training at Yadrat after mastering Instant Transmission.

There's a reason Goatgeta is better than Vegito--Goku is better than Vegetables. Vegito has that disgusting attitude Vegetables has and that always leads to his demise.....in every fight.
