In 2016, She doesn’t know who Captain Marvel is. Well, she does, but she’s thinking of Billy Badson. Basically, should you know a character before hand instead before playing that role?
Is this bad for Brie Larson?
Charlie Cox did not know Daredevil was blind when he was offered the role and called his agent after a friend of his pointed it out. And I would guess that the Guardians actors all knew nothing about their roles comic counterparts. Heck, I'm not even sure RDJ knew anything about Iron Man given that he was not that big a name prior to Civil War and the MCU.
From the moment she was offered the part till filming started she had plenty of time to read her comics.
Vigo Mortensen had never heard of LotR before he was offered to play Aragorn, but at that point he read the books. Actors always prepare for their roles.
Nah, she acknowledge the real Captain Marvel. Most people don't know Carol is CM she only got that title like 5 years ago.
lul, mad.
@the_living_tribunal_24: Nah, you?
@the_kidd: nah, what i meant to say was that it was mad(hilarious/savage) how you just dropped that.
First of all, Billy Batson is Captain Marvel.
Second, a great deal of actors are not familiar with the source material, and it's not their job to. An actors job is to bring to life a Directors vision. It's the Director's, Producer's, and Studio's job to cater the the audience and fans.
Third, why even make this thread? Honestly, what where your intentions?

@mrmonster: I was agreeing with what others said about this not being bad. Rereading my comment I should have phrased myself better.
Naa I'm sure they research the characters once they get the role

This is incorrect. Fans can cry about the name change all they want but its Shazam and has been for more than half a decade
It's like a contest "find the most stupidly unnecessary reason to complain about Captain Marvel" every day.
She's an actress, she's not a comic nerd who spends her life on ComicVine criticizing others who are out there earning money and being successful.
In fact, I'm impressed she even knew about the DC's Captain Marvel.

How am I “complaing” about anything, I simply asked a question. On not just one specifically on CM. for CBM actors in general.
no need to get mad at me lol.
Okay, this is silly. She heard what her fans wanted but hadn't heard of the character before so she researched the character, what is the freaking problem?
Direct me to where I said there was a problem. I was wondering if an actor should know their character before hand or not,
@rem: I wasn't going after you, sorry that I didn't make that clear. The video seems to imply there's a problem though, wouldn't you say?
I’d agree with that.
Poor Billy got his code name that he had first stolen from him. It'd be sad if it weren't so ridiculous.
