Yeah.... kinda....

Lots of movies doesn't mean lots of good movies. There's like 5 good ones, the rest are passable or terrible.

No. I can't speak for anyone else, but rewatching the Avengers last night and watching the behind the scenes of Infinity War... what Marvel has accomplished is unprecedented.

Yes, to an extent. There are people who're too obsessed with the MCU movies and act like everything it makes is solid gold with no flaws. The majority of the MCU movies are good but they rarely take any risks or go too far outside their limits, which, to be far, makes sense given that starting a cinematic universe itself was a big risk.

It's certainly done plenty of good for the comic book movie genre in general. While I like BvS, an argument that I've heard in its favor that I hate is when people say no one would have had a problem with it if it came out ten ago. But it didn't come out ten years ago. Regardless of what you think of the MCU movies themselves, they have raised the bar for comic book movies and modern onesshould try to meet that bar, just like when the original Superman or Tim Burton Batman movies came out.

Basically it's still good but it's over glorified by some fans who take their excitement and love a bit too far.

No, its just been successful and all successful things tend to have large followings which is why they are successful. Which leads to threads such as this one.

Very Overrated but Pretty good. To me it didn't become overrated until Civil War was widely known as a masterpiece /Greatest CBM ever.

no its nor over glorified they make great films with great characters that we get attached too, albeit some of the movies are bland and not all that great the majority and what they did with the continuity of the universe is great.

It's 1000 times better than any other studios trying to do the same thing, it's taken huge leaps in getting things more comic accurate outside comics, and there's a handful of films I really like, but overall I think it's pretty "meh" and that the Netflix stuff is just awful

Plus worst of all it's had a negative impact on the comics. They're something trivial that you just sit around for 2 hours watching, just movies, the actual comics should not be revolving around it like the earth around the sun

Funny how when someone posts an honet thread about whether MCU is over-glorified or not, they're labeled a fanboy, but when someone makes an obvious troll/hate thread about how the DCEU sucks, it's almost encouraged.

@petey_is_spidey: But how do you know this is an honest thread?

Ikr. Ganon practically spams "opinion polls" threads every day, and especially ones about the DCEU/MCU. What makes this thread any more honest then his ones about DCEU or CW? Literally one person calls OP a "DC fanboy" and Lil Peter Pan starts crying like a little girl.

I think people glorify their financial success and use it as proof of quality which it frankly isn't. Same goes for the people saying Suicide Squad was good because it was profitable or a few of the X-Men films.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist were just meh, the Thor movies are meh so far, Age of Ultron and IM3 were meh. It is not perfect but they have more great movies than duds, and it has a huge cultural impact and deserve praise. I would say no overall.

What is over-glorifying or overrating for that matter? From what I understand some people like some things and others don't and never to the same degree.

If in one scenario I'm in a group of 100 and 45 of us dislike something while the other 55 love it is that fine just because it's fairly even and there's almost a voice of dissent for every voice of praise? Is my dislike validated by the backing of the other 44?
If in another scenario I'm in a group of 100 and 5 of us dislike something while the other 95 love it is it then overrated just because the praise drowns out the dissent by a significant margin? Do the five of us really need to validate our dislikes by faulting the 95 as sheep or misguided in their tastes?

Don't mind me if that was a legit question out of curiosity op haha. That's just what I perceive whenever I hear someone say the word overrate because it barely has any valid meaning. I can only say yes or no when they tell me what their idea of over-glorifying is and can somewhat accurately give what you think the correct amount of glory (lmao just like measuring Kool-Aid) is supposed to be.

I think every amount of success or failure of...well...anything, barring extraneous causes like prohibition/promotion, is receiving exactly the right amount of glory it deserves under the circumstances. There is no too much or too little. Each person is exposed to the same stimulus and affected the way they are affected whether negatively or positively. That's one of the things nobody can control because it's on a per-person basis. And since the MCU is doing pretty well at the moment, I'll say no it's not over-glorified.

Over glorified in what way? Quality? Success? Hype?

You'll have the fanboys/girls that'll see no faults in the MCU whatsoever, but as far as I'm concerned despite their opportunities to make their cbm's better, I don't think they're over glorified. They put out consistently great-to-very good cbm's that are financially and critically successful thru careful planning and strategic moves. As far as I'm concerned they only really have two films that that aren't that good in Iron Man 2 and The Dark World (maybe 3 if you include Iron Man 3), but even then I'll take those anyday of the week over the crap we use to get 20-25 years ago. Studios like FOX, SONY and WB were dead serious when putting out stuff like Batman & Robin, Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four back in the day. So even the worst of the MCU still curbstomp what cbm's use to be.

Not sure what you mean by over glorified. I've enjoyed all of their movies so far. Some DEFINITELY more than others. I think they've set a good standard for CBM's but I don't think it should be THE standard.

Not quite sure what you mean by over glorified is all. Some of the fanboys certainly need to ease up, but I suppose that's any fandom.
