I was on the iMDB top 250 page, and The Dark Knight currently stands as the 4th highest rated movie of all time. While the movie is phenomenal, I just don't think that this is the case. I think people tend to hype up exactly how good this movie is. Thoughts?
Is the Dark Knight slightly overrated?
Maybe just a little. But it's still great. All of my friends have a healthy respect for it, but it obviously gets blown out of proportion relative to its popularity.
I completely agree that it is a great movie. But the fourth best movie of all time??? That seems a bit much.

No.
It's one of the most overrated films in history.
It's one of the most overrated films in history. Avatar takes 1st place.
Amen.
@leo-343: Can a film be overrated if no one likes it anymore? I mean people were raving about it when it came out because of the 3d and now years later I dont know anyone that likes that film.
It's not. One question what flaws does it have for it to be considered overrated?
Bale's Batman voice for one.
@the_real_seaman: That's not something wrong with the film, though.
OT: Yeah, I'd say just a smidge. 4th greatest? Nah. But it's around top 15 IMO
@zmasonite: Yeah tell us something we dont know.

I suppose it's not something wrong with the film, it just seems to bother me
TDK is the DC equivalent of Marvel's Daredevil (Netflix) it's fantastic, and the best thing they've done. But fans fap it a little hard.
Yes it is, but it's still an extraordinary film (but, in my opinion, it's mostly because of Ledger's performance as the Joker).

I completely agree
Slightly? The entire Nolan trilogy is the definition of overrated.
didn't want to offend the fanboys
Batman Begins is better
Nolan films are nothing close to Superhero films.. so the whole "best superhero film" nonsense can go out the window with its fanboyism attached. Synders films are Superhero films..
TDK is the most overrated cmb to date. Bales performance was completely shattered by Ledgers.. period. The Joker was the best thing about that movie, and Bale looked average on screen compared to his performance. It's a good movie, but it's mainly because of Heath. Bale is not THAT great at being batman, but he's a great Bruce Wayne.
Nolan films in general are overrated, but it's probably because they're something new brought to the table. There was some much realism in the Nolan films, that it probably made it easier for the audience to connect.
The movie itself is great but it doesn't deserve to be that high. However, Heath Ledgers Joker really makes the film what it is, it's genuinely one of the best acting performance's I've ever seen and for that reason alone I can't say it shouldn't be there.
Just to remind everyone: being 4th highest rated film on imdb in no way makes the argument that it's the 4th greatest movie of all time, there is no accurate way to gauge the quality of movies, only personal opinions.
No I don't think it is overrated, it's one of the few movies that left me speechless afterwards. It was an incredible sensation wherein I actually checked what some others had to say about it to make sure hadn't just gotten high on something and forgot.
Slightly? The entire Nolan trilogy is the definition of overrated.
