Poll Is the dark knight overrated (208 votes)
It literally beats ever movie it goes up against I personally don't think it's THAT good.

Yes, yes it is
And @darkdetective27 agrees
@judasnixon: I agree
Lets be honest... We only go back just to watch the Heath Ledger's Joker parts....
FACT!!
One problem is DC hasn't had another hit since. If DC could just get one hit they'd forget about TDK. Like if BvS or MoS had been a bonafide hit we wouldn't even be having this discussion right now.
@stardance: essentially it is. it even beat out Godfather on twitter as the most mentioned and placed at number 1.
Nah, it transcends the superhero genre and is just looked at as a great movie. I think people hate on it just because they prefer some other superhero movies.
@donwayneii: Twitter people saying TDK is better than the Godfather holds zero credibility, if anything that just makes it more overrated, comparing it to the Godfather is stupid as hell and again makes me wonder what they would say if their was no tragedy
IMO it's the second greatest movie of all time, so no..
I hope by this you mean the second greatest comic book movie of all time. Also if it is the second, which one is the first?
@krleavenger: No, imo TDK is the second best movie of all time, not just comic book movies
@krleavenger: No, imo TDK is the second best movie of all time, not just comic book movies
Than which one is the first?
@stardance: so you're saying the Godfather is on a completely different level?
@krleavenger: I know I'm gonna catch hell for this, but in my extremely biased opinion the best movie of all time is The Deathly Hallows part 2.
@thesuperor: Wait I'm confused. Are you saying those are your favorite movies so in that sense they are greatest movies of all time, or you are saying they are the best movies overall?
@krleavenger: I am saying that those two are my favorite movies of all time. For me The Deathly Hallows part 2 is the greatest movie of all time from a subjective standpoint.
@thesuperor: I see. Well, alright then.
@ridd: Never liked it but I just think I don't like Nolan films in general the all feel like they lack emotion to me.
I tend to think so.. it's a great movie. But some people give it the credit of Best CBM of all time, I disagree
@hyiena: I don't watch a CBM with the expectation of emotions. The things that matters to me are :
1. Adrenaline rush.
2. Hero/Villain.
3. Dialogues.
4. Action scenes.
5. Story.
7. Twist.
8. Morals.
9. Direction.
10. Moments that you remember long after watching the movie.
As for emotions I don't expect a lot of them in "Batman" movies. It was a great movie you can't deny it but saying that its the best or worst CBM is purely subjective. In the end it comes down to whether I liked the movie or not, and I did and so did the majority and that makes it a great movie.

I hope this is a troll

No that only make it a watchable movie, but in no way a "great movie".
Also when you say "I don't watch a CBM with the expectation of emotions", You got it all wrong. Emotions are the essence of Comics and Superheroes. That is why you get attached to a hero. Because of the emotions he makes you feel.
Also I don't see why "Dialogues" should be more important than emotions ?
@ridd: Never liked it but I just think I don't like Nolan films in general the all feel like they lack emotion to me.
You must not have seen a lot of Nolan's films then.
Still my favorite CBM.
Even after:
Nah, it transcends the superhero genre and is just looked at as a great movie. I think people hate on it just because they prefer some other superhero movies.
This makes no sence.
Yes severely overrated, If it wasn't for Heath Ledger's part in the movie it wouldn't be all that good it'd just be another Batman on the level of TDKR which is for me personally the worst Batman movie ever made. I can at least still watch the Schuemaker movies and find some kind of enjoyment in them but TDKR is just miserable and has about as much Batman as The Phantom Menace had Darth Maul. Heath was the only thing that held that movie together and kept me in the theatre when it came out. I agree with the idea that the main reason that movie stuck with people was because it was one of Ledger's last movies and he happened to be the best part of the movie.
@jb681131: Why the hell would it be a troll? The movie is fantastic
It still hold a 9.0 rating on imdb with almost 1.8 million votes. It is the 4th highest ranked movie of all time on imdb, so I am sure as hell not alone thinking that TDK is on of the best movies of all time
The Dark Knight is a wonderful movie. There is no argument there. But it is certainly overrated. People rank it with the greatest movies of all time like the Godfather. It doesn't belong that high.
@thesuperor: A large number of those people created multiple accounts and gave it 10 stars because of Heath Ledger's death, so IMDb is not credible in this case. The Dark Knight is not the only overrated movie on IMDb (Forrest Gump, Interstellar, etc.)

Well it never won anything for best scenario. The only reason it worked is because of Heath Leger's performance.
Two-face was messed up, where was the Batmobile, Batman was a little stiff, the fight scene were much better in BvS and what an awfull ending.
@donwayneii: No I'm saying a bear shits in the woods
@gaoron: I never said it's a bad movie. I just said it's overrated on IMDb. It's number 13 of all time. That's just a little too high.
@gaoron: Oops deleted my reply by accident.
I never said it's a bad movie. It's just overrated on IMDb. They have it at the 13th greatest movie of all time. That's a little too high.
Yes it is overrated. First off, it really isn't a superhero movie. Superheroes do fake crap that normal humans can't do. Mike Tyson could knock out that version of Batman out of armor. It still one of the best don't get me wrong just not the best. It wouldn't be so high if Heath Ledger was still alive.
Why do people say dumb shit like that?
"The movie wouldn't be held in such high regard if Ledger was still alive"
The Dark Knight is a great movie, but the amount of people who act like it's the greatest thing in the Omniverse can be frustrating sometimes.
Still love it though.
Do people forget that TDK is the reason the superhero genre is still popular today ? outside of spiderman , the superhero genre was so died down and awful to the point studios refused to make superhero movies until WB took a chance making a batman sequel , if it wasn't TDK , MCU and DCEU probably wont exist or be as popular
@necromancer76: imo it deserves to be that high. But of course in the end its a matter of opinion. For example one of my favoutite movie Vanilla Sky is somewhere in 200000 place at IMBd when i would put it in top 10.
Lets be honest... We only go back just to watch the Heath Ledger's Joker parts....
