Is Man of Steel a misunderstood masterpiece?

Definitely not a masterpiece. Decent film though, if it wasn't for the action I wouldn't have finished the movie.
Another thread about MoS? I think haters and trolls secretly love the film more than the people who enjoyed it and thought it was reasonably decent.
@t6: I'm more in the camp of severely disappointed at almost everything about the movie
According to DCEU fanboys every DCEU movie is a misunderstood masterpiece.
lmaooo truee
No. Nothing with that much blatantly bad writing is a masterpiece.
No. It isn't. It's just not good. The action scenes were good but they didn't save the movie.
Great movie but not a masterpiece. The only recent CBM that comes close is TDK
Wonder Woman was better

this isn't new, its a trend thats come back around, Man of Steel is basically the most talked about Superhero movie and has been constantly generating more conversation
a few years ago a thread was made commemorating that achievement
A perfectly understood mediocrity.
Couldn't have said it better myself; it is essentially a beautiful turd.
It's misunderstood I'll give you that. But to say it's a masterpiece would be stretching things. Although visually it is one of Snyder's finest works and Zimmer created a phenomenal soundtrack, perhaps the best in cbms. Thats about it. The story is a different take on Superman. Some didn't like it. Some loved it. I can see why MoS is so talked about. The faction that liked it, do really like it a lot.

Armond White said that Man of Steel is the Godfather of Superhero movies
So you know it's not a masterpiece.
Plus TAS likes the movie too so that means it's definitely bad HAHA

More like a handsome truth D;

No. Truth be told, its pretty dull. And I'm one of those who thinks Man of Steel is ever so slightly better than Wonder Woman. Even though Wonder Woman has more replay value because its easier to catch my attention... at least up until the climactic battle.
Not a masterpiece, but maybe misunderstood.
I always thought MoS was a bad movie, but I appreciate it in hindsight and I like it as an experience. Martin Scorcese said something a few days ago that instantly changed the way I look at movies:
Is it a picture that has to be explained? What about the experience of watching mother!? Good films by real filmmakers aren't made to be decoded, consumed or instantly comprehended. They're not even made to be instantly liked. They're just made, because the person behind the camera had to make them.

I always thought it is supposed to be known. But in this era of bandwagons, kool-aids and nonprofit corporate devotions, one can easily forget that I guess.
No. I liked it a lot when it came out. Loved it, actually. But I never thought it was a product of gifted writing. Good action sequences, but painfully boring with everything else.
Also, I do like Henry Cavill's Superman just fine, but he may be the most overrated Superman actor to date.
Edit: I take that last statement back. Cavill has received his share of flack over the past couple years. He was overcredited in 2013.
Supermans youth and upbringing along with the begining of the movie with the kryptonian ship buried in the ice and how he meets Lois is really bad writing and just dumb
Seeing Krypton and the last half of the movie was great
It's a decent movie but has it's flaws better than most MCU films imo it's over hated for sure because of how bad BVS was
