Is Logan(2017) overrated?
Nope, it was great. Of course, not on the level of TDK as I expected it to be but IMO it's still better than all the MCU films. I liked how it broke almost all of it's genre tropes and took chances that almost no CBM did. In a saturated genre like the CBM's, Logan is definitely a welcome breath of fresh air.
Storm trooper aim. Barely any good action. Boring. Rushed/manufactured father/daughter relationship.
It's both, if that makes sense. If you think beyond the style and acting, the only true innovation was probably the wonderfully performed nauseating seizures. And finally Wolverines' slashing some body parts off. Very nice stuff. But plotwise and storywise? Hardly anything complex or groundbreaking. But it's not what this story is about, it doesn't grab you with the twists and some virtuoso red herrings. Nah, it grabs you with it's honesty, it's rawness, it's imperfection because that's what was left of the world. It's about broken and demoralized once idealists . It's about shattered heroes. It's about human brutality prevailing and worst enemies that are themselves. It's about facing those inner demons when they take form in the culmination of all of this. It's about death and legacy. And more...
For a very simple and linear movie it achieves and explores so much, even its imperfections become its strengths, this is the very definition of great cinema.
@modernww2fare when are you making the thor ragnarok overrated thread
And yes Logan is massively overrated
I still think it's a bit overrated. It's a very good superhero movie, but it wasn't anything revolutionary.

No. It was a great movie.
Ohhh Jesus ! Stop ! This is one of the most mature superhero movies ! Movies like avengers or Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy are relentlessly said to be the best because of many actions, sense of humor, no tense and thrilling atmosphere etc. Movies like Wonder Woman and Logan are very mature movies for adult peoples. Get over it that children are getting older who liked 9-12+ movies in the past, but now they are getting bored with those movies and need more serious topics, plot some motif of parental love or motif of killing innocent people like whole host families got murdered by x-24 etc. People cannot understand that besides x-men series fox verse makes 18+ movies.
I think Logan is super overrated. A Good film overall sure, but the only things that really stood out as great were Jackman's acting, and the fight scenes. The story itself I felt was kind of poor, the villain was hilariously bad, the cinematography was average, the dialogue is lackluster (you can't even remember one line), Wolverine's character arc has been done to death and had zero development in the movie and the biggest issue for sure was the "twist". While Jackman was great, him as X24 was genuinely a terrible villain who felt completely out of the movie at the end and come out of nowhere.
Yeah, actually. The dynamic between the 3 main characters holds the movie together, but there are plenty of things not to like. The main villain was a nobody, who acted tough, but was a complete coward by the end. The other villain was a random wolverine clone, with zero personality. I was hyped at first, because I thought it was Daken, but no. Charles' death was handled massively better in Last Stand, where it actually meant something. Here, he's just stabbed in his sleep, by a henchman. The ending was emotional, but highly unsatisfying. I can't even call it bittersweet. Sure, Wolverine saved the kids, but he didn't stop the people in charge of the ones he fought. So, he basically died for nothing. The X-men just completely lost in the end. Mutants are just about extinct, with the government hunting the remnants. It's the type of ending you need a time stone for, but alas, that's not going to happen.
Overall, the movie is good, but these problems drag it down for me.
No, it's a very good film.
