The new film is getting stellar reviews. Honestly, I can't think of any film franchise with more than three films that's as consistently well-received as John Wick but if there are, please name them.

- There hasn’t been many 4-movie series in general.

- My opinions may not line up with popularity

- I’ve only seen John Wick 1.

Toy Story: Ive only seen the 3rd, but they all receive praise.

Harry Potter: while I was doing my ranking I could still give a lot of praise to my two least favorite Harry Potter movies. Deathly Hollows part 1 does not feel like a complete story and its coloration is too muted (though I get that thematically) but SPOILER’s death scene is one of the best Harry Potter moments. Especially with how well Radcliffe was conveying denial (first stage of grief) about what was happening (0:40 to 1:00, https://youtu.be/nlOF6YhAoJQ.) And Sorcerers Stone is a well directed movie, the filmmakers did a great job translating the book to a movie.

The Lord of the Rings: I think Unexpected Journey is very good.

Mission impossible: All of the post MI2 movies are good which is a 4 in a row.

Rocky: This is kind of disingenuous because I didn’t like the 4th movie even though others did. If I did like the 4th movie as much as others this would definitely be on here.

@zafros13: Alright, guess the Avengers can also count. I did not like the first two all that much but they were well received by the public, I hear less complaints about the first than Endgame.

I can’t think of a single series as consistently good as Wick. There are series that are great, but I can’t think of any that nails every minute of the movie like Wick does.

@cattlebattle: Hmm, I consider each set of Bond films featuring the same actor as Bond its own separate series. That being said, no Bond series comes close to the Wick films. The Connery series is the best but I still prefer Wick.

Well you said "film series", you didn't specify down to what counts as one.

@cattlebattle: Ok, film series set in the same universe. The Burton, Schumacher, Nolan and Reeves Batman films should also be viewed as separate series as do the Raimi, Webb and Watts Spider-Man films even though they're all canon now. Different interpretations of the same character template still mean different characters.

Harry Potter comes to mind. All the films are well received. Same for Toy Story (which is far superior to John Wick).

I would say Casino Royale is significantly better than any Wick film. Same with Skyfall.

OG Bourne trilogy also superior.

@frozen: I haven't watched Harry Potter since I was a teen, might need to rewatch them. Also, forgot all about Toy Story since seeing the third when I was 15, haven't watched number 4 yet but heard it's by far the weakest, I might watch the series in preparation for number 5.

Casino Royale's great but the rest of the Craig era Bond films aren't anywhere near that level, the series is therefore anything but consistent. Bourne was a great trilogy but then came the fourth film, therefore not consistent either.

I would say Skyfall is on par with if not superior to CR. It certainly has more substance than Wick, and I've never been convinced by the criticisms towards it. But yes the other 3 Craig ones aren't very good.

4 is the weakest in Toy Story but it's still an extremely good film.

Doesn't change the fact that there's still 5 amazing films, which is what the OP was asking.

And Scream 3 might be the weakest in the franchise, but it's still better than most slasher films today.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I do think Star Wars is up there.

Out of the 9 Skywalker Saga films, there's only really 4 bad films, 1 good film, 3 excellent films, and 1 masterpiece.

I think we take for granted just how much of a miracle the Harry Potter series is.

8 films. Not a single bad apple, all of them range from pretty good to incredible. Very few noticeable recastings, Dumbledore's is really the only distracting one (RIP Richard Harris). It had 4 directors who had 4 different visions for the tone/feel/look, and all of them worked well.

Really, the series is a miracle.

I agree. I have never really blown away by any Wick film. They are just primarily a series of action set pieces that are really well choreographed. They don't really have any interesting plots or characters and really have nothing in terms of tension or storytelling. Even horrible Bond films will have a unique villain or something.

Amongst the ones I've seen, maybe.

Harry Potter may be an exception since it's based off a book series.

Rocky is another one. If you ignore 5, they're all good. Rocky 1 through to Creed 3. That's 8 movies.

I wouldn’t really consider John Wick 1 a great movie. So I don’t think the bar for keeps the quadrilogies quality standard is that high.

The “I’m thinking I’m back!” moment was cool though.

But If I were to rank the movies that are being brought up it would look something like this (a lot of these are hard to compare because they offer differing things):

1. Fellowship of the Ring

2. Fallout

3. Return of the King

4. Rogue Nation

5. Order of the Phoenix

6. The Two Towers

7. Rocky 2

8. The Evil Dead

9. Army of Darkness

10. Goblet of Fire

11. Rocky 3

12. Rocky

13. MI3

14. Unexpected Journey

15. Chamber of Secrets

16. Deathly Hollows part 1

17. Deathly Hallows part 2

18. Prisoner of Azkaban

19. The Battle of 5 Armies

20. Half Blood Prince

21. John Wick 1

22. Sorcerers Stone

23. Ghost Protocol

24. Rocky 5

25. Rocky 4

26. Desolation of Smaug

27. Evil Dead 2

I disagree. Seven Star Wars films have earned at least a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score. That's consistent enough for me.

The first three SW movies (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) are on a whole other level than the first three JW movies, imo.

Rocky and Toy Story have already been mentioned, so I’d like to recommend Pirates of the Caribbean. I’m probably in the minority here, but I found the original trilogy to be back to back quality all the way through. On Stranger Tides is weaker for sure, but I still find lots of enjoyment from it. In my opinion the series only goes drastically downhill with the 5th movie, which is just really unenjoyable to sit through. It lost the charm for me, and I really doubt they’ll ever get it back, with or without Depp.
