Is DCAU Lex Luthor the best version of the character outside the comics?

Ahem...Smallville. Though DCAU is pretty good too...kinda difficult between the two.

For me yeah. I never watched Smallville tho, so I can’t speak on that version of the character

He's always constantly scheming and undercutting others, but he does make a noble sacrifice to the end of JLU when he become one with that chair guy. Clancy Brown's voice acting and the long length of time from the Superman show to the JL shows did wonders for him, and he's probably even more memorable than the comics to me at least.

I don’t think so. I think he was slightly better when portrayed by Michael Rosenbaum on Smallville. He had 7 seasons of growth and character development on Smallville. Imo he’s the best version outside of the comics.

I’m actually more biased for Hackman/Spacey Luthor than I am for DCAU. I grew up on the movies more than the shows. I did watch all of STAS several times, but to this day I still haven’t seen JLU all the way through.

In some ways: I prefer an older and more collected Luthor (DCAU's tied with YJ version for this), but I prefer humanist versions of the character like his DCEU counterpart.

Absolutely. He is even better than most comic versions.

Young Justice is a pretty hit or miss series in terms of how they handle a character, but Lex was definitely one of the high points.

He has been held as a illustrious, consistent, multifaceted, lonnnng running antagonist character of its generation in comics. Even in comics he hasn't had these much complexity and for these long. The JLU ending was PERFECT send off for him. Probably the best DCAU and antagonist character from all the superhero adaptations. Period.

No other notable competition, closest we got was Smallville Lex who lacks alot of Lexs most notable traits imo. A great villain in the vacuum of smallville but not what I'd want for Lex in a general sense like DCAU lex but even he can be a bit too much.

YJ lex is great but is often a background villain and alot of his role is given to Vandal

Yup, and unlike Young Justice, DCAU actually knew how to do a proper president arc for Lex Luthor.

God yes. To be fair I haven’t seen every other adaptation, but DCAU Luthor is beyond incredible. Clancy Brown nails that role. “Do you have any idea how much power I’d have to give up to be President?” will forever be one of the most badass and threatening lines I’ve ever heard in my life.
