Poll Is a Black Widow movie a good idea? (60 votes)
I think it's a great idea.
She actually has a very compelling backstory, and it could be a great chance to break away from the semi-comedic Marvel formula by making a grounded, serious thriller.

Street levellers just generally aren't all that compelling so I'm gonna go with no.
Edit: aside from Batman
Too late. They should have made a movie at least in Phase 2 followed by Phase 3.
Now they better focus on a new female character
Plus they should have cast someone who can do actual stunts instead of Scarlett. It is very obvious that she is using a Stunt double whenever she fights because she is not wearing a mask unlike other like Captain America.
I like MCU Widow but I don't care too much if she gets a solo movie. That being said, if it does get made, I'm hoping it's a origin movie detailing the events when she defected from the KGB to SHIELD. Also it should have an Agent May and Coulson cameo, that's non-negotiable.
@solar_nerd I personally think it's a good idea. I don't get the people calling it a "bad" idea. If there's anything movies like The Lego Movie (a 2 hour commercial for toys??? who would want to watch that?), Guardians of The Galaxy (a movie about a Raccoon and a tree? Sounds terrible) and Blade Runner 2049 (a 30 year sequel to a classic with an ambiguous ending) have proven, is that there's no such thing as a terrible idea. Everything ultimately comes down to execution, and there's no reason a Black Widow movie can't be good. I think Scarlett Johansson is a great actress and the prospect of a Black Widow movie allows them to explore a facet of the MCU that is familiar yet different.
Bring it on.
I'm not interested in it but that's purely due to genre preference. Just not into spy shit...
I think it will do fine money-wise though and don't have any argument why they shouldn't. Should've capitalized on her popularity sooner though, seems like it's been shrinking in recent times.
It'd be good if they do it well, but given the current political-correctness disease of the entire media industry now, it's most likely going to end up being a feminist cringefest.
No.
Given to the right director it has the potential to be something incredible. Given to the wrong director it'll be an average Anti-Male climatic lack luster Feminazi pile of sh**.
What seems strange to me is that supposedly the movie happens in the 2,000.
Which can mean several things.
1-Scarlett plays a 16-year-old girl, which is a terrible idea, since she obviously does not look that age. (Avengers 2 made this mistake, with Scarlett with a blonde wig pretending be a teenager.)
2-Natasha is older than she seems, which would be a good idea.
3-Only one part occurs in the 2,000 and she is interpreted by another actress in the scenes that occur in the past.
I just hope the directors do not make the stupid mistake of believing that Scarlett can play a teenager just by wearing a blonde wig.

I find this comment comical because it could be said about any movie.

Yeah sure.......like 8 years ago.
I never understood this argument. There's no "best by" date for when you can create a movie, especially in an ongoing cinematic universe like the MCU. A good movie is a good movie.

I'm delighted to know that my words have galvanized the humorous parts of your consciousness.
@theamazingspidey: yeah well, it’d have made sense if it came out years ago. Afterwards have her star in Avengers films.
That way the character would have had more depth imo.
I would've liked her to have a movie earlier as well, but the movie can still be good.
