Yes, for one to be considered a true telekinetic, they must be using some form of psionic energy e.g. jean grey, sue storm. However, magneto often uses electromagnetism to create bubbles of solid force, akin to sue's forcefields except EM in nature. These bubbles have often been used to carry people, implying that magneto can simulate telekinesis with his forcefields and thus narrow it down to manipulation of essentially any kind of matter.

no. He can’t just move anything. It has to have a certain amount of metal in it. Also, his ability to move objects and the amount of metal the objects have to have in it for magneto to move them has varied wildly depending on the plot. Sometimes it seems like he can move ANYTHING and sometimes he can’t even move a human being.

@christianrapper: but what about how his EM forcefield's repel just about anything from non-metal debris to energy attacks? Following that line of thought, can't those forcefields be used for simulated telekinesis?

not really. He doesn’t have telekinesis. There are limits. However, he has other powers that are far greater than telekinesis. Don’t try to make magneto into something that he isn’t.

@christianrapper: I know he doesnt have actual telekinesis, but he should still be able to levitate a tree with his forcefields just like how we've seen him carry humans with his forcefields.
