Begins. More influential (Iron Man launched the MCU, but any efficient superhero origin movie could've done that. Not to take away from the movie, what I'm trying to say is the craze for cinematic universes originated from the Phase One as a whole, not just Iron Man) while Begins itself influenced a generation of darker, modern reimagining of otherwise campy properties, a unique atmosphere - I love that the city itself is a character, a unique and quite genius telling of the origin story.
Iron Man is a better overrated. It's the perfect example of an effective origin film, and features a great lead performance, but it's still formulaic and doesn't lend itself to many re watches.
I,m going with both...I honestly cant decide which film i liked more.
And id say their dead even in terms of Cinematic quality..Storytelling wise and Artistically Batman: Begins is a little better.
And is it just me or are the plots for these two kinda similar?...Both star rich guys who return from a long hiatus after people thought they were dead... And after suffering a traumatic experience, both guys develop a guilt complex and deicide to rebuild themselves as a force for good i.e Superheros..And both films conclude with both guys somehow getting into a fight to the death with their former mentors.
Both movies were great, but personally enjoy BB more. Iron Man did cause a ripple effect and gave Marvel a strong foundation. That being said, it feels for every orign story in marvel, they just copy the formula for Iron Man which is hurting what other wise are great marvels movies.
I found Tony Stark's motives for becoming a hero much more compelling than Bruce Wayne's. However, I did prefer the final act in Begins.
As much as I love Begins (a lot more than Iron Man), I agree that Tony's motives and character development were superior to Bruce Wayne's. I love seeing the change of demeanor in Tony. He went from a self-absorbed asshole to a selfless hero, which is a pretty common archetype, but Robert Downey Jr. and the writers absolutely sold it.
Iron Man. I will never forget the excitement of experiencing IM for the first time. That movie was a phenomenon - comic sci fi adapted perfectly, the cast aboslutely killing it, and the plot being realistic and believable enough. If not for the final fight being so lackluster, this movie could've been perfect. BB had some nice and great bits here and there, but ultimately was just ok.
Batman Begins and it's not close. And this comes from a guy who's not a fan of Christian Bale's rendition of Batman. Iron Man is watchable but generic. The only thing good about Iron Man is Downney Jr and Jeff Bridges in some scenes.
BB. The film and trilogy had so many good parts to it. Iron was good. I found it entertaining, light, and with good humor, but BB was still a better story and origin.
