Brad Bird. Reboot. Don't care if Fox or MCU. Any of the comic costumes; not the black jumpsuits.

Even though I like the Singer-verse for the most part, I really think they should've rebooted. The timeline is way too convoluted now, and the fact that the main X-Team is stuck in the 80's as teenagers (meaning 40's-50's in present time) is disappointing. And, even on that note, I don't see them getting the original cast back at all when they finally do get back to present time, so we'll have to deal with new actors most likely :/

Anyways, Sam Raimi is my top pick

More 'comic booky'? I don't think X-Men movies will improve if you give Wolverine the yellow tights.

Is not about improving, its about a different vision

and by comic booky I mean:

- more focus on the team, more X-Men development, more X-Men team action sequences, and more faithful costumes.

I really love some of the X-Men films (X2, FC, DOFP) , don´t get me wrong.

Interesting, he can do plenty of genres right for sure.

but why him?, is there any reason is specific? or you just think it would fit?

@payneintheass: Danny Boyle often has elements of fringe culture in his films, and he's good with characters who're outcasts/freaks, which fits the themes of minority oppression and isolation that are integral to the X-Men franchise.

I couldn't care less about flashy costumes or bombastic action; that's not what makes the X-Men compelling.

Matthew Vaughan, Rian Johnson, Tim Miller and Brad Bird would be my top picks but most of the choices on the list could pull it off.

I'm really ready for a reboot, I love what Singer's done with it, but after 16 years, it's time to move on and utilise everything the X-Men can be. The time-lines simply don't work anyway, and many characters are out of bounds due to the restrictions set by the timeline. After the way Tim Miller handled Colossus and Negasonic, I'd be down for him directing, even if he hasn't proven himself on a bigger scale... but I think he is more needed on Deadpool.

My hope is that Deadpool is the first of the rebooted universe, do Apocalypse, Old Man Logan and reboot with a new X-Men circa 2020ish. God I wish Fox could cut a deal with Marvel, it wouldn't even be difficult to put Mutants into the MCU.

For me, Bird or Raimi.

Sam Raimi or Brad Bird in a land slide. Nobody makes better cartoony, Comic Booky films then these two. Tim Burton is the only other person i can think of but he directs films of a more darker vartiety. Guillermo del Toro is another really good choice.

A team of innovative underdogs who hate Marvel and X-men, and who`d ruin the whole franchise, including the comics and therefore the sales of useless knick-knacks like action figures, t-shirts, blushies...
I`d give the team all the liberties possible. I might cheat them though, if they`d start act as self-righteous fascists.

Let better superhero-stories take their place. Entertainment art. Like the stories I`ll make.

Tim Miller. Phenomenal work on Deadpool.

I've watched three Matthew Vaughn movies, Kick-Ass, Kingsman and, ironically, X-Men: First Class, and now of them are fitting for the comic book-y X-Men tone.

Chris Miller & Phil Lord. They did the two Jump Street movies, the Lego Movie and are working on the upcoming Han Solo movie. They know action and comedy, plus have some familiarity with superheroes.

Which director would you pick for the main X-Men films?

Joss Whedon. I'm not the biggest fan of his Avengers films, but he wrote my favorite X-Men run of all-time.

Reboot or continue the saga?

Reboot

FOX or MCU?

Making it more comic-booky, I'd ask Whedon to do XSGY (Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters) as a TV series. There would be a brief tie in two episode Pilot to the rest of the MCU. (This could include SHIELD, Spider-Man, or Hawkeye.)

For the movie, Sam Raimi. It would have to be a reboot to move away from Fox, but I do think that the 'black leather' outfits for the X-Men work better for the movies than 'yellow spandex'.

But, that said...

If Fox and Marvel Studios ever patch things up for crossovers...

I'd love to see Captain America and the Invaders take down Shaw's 'School' with help from Logan and Creed. (Or form the Invaders from the 'students' they rescue.)
