and Image comics?
If Stan Lee is the father of MARVEL who's the father of DC?

Probably jerry siegel and joe shuster
what this guy said
Weren't their families suing DC, trying to take Superman away from the company? Not so sure about that choice.
I'd say Julius Schwartz. It was his idea to revive all of DC's Golden Age characters, but re-imagined them with a more "Modern" sensibility, and gave them science fiction flavored origins.
Image is a conglomerate of a half dozen guys, most of whom established their own studios, largely working independently of one another. There's really no single father figure coming out of that publishing model.

As for Image- Rob Liefeld. Let the Abuse begin........................
Jack Kirby is the father of Marvel and DCs fourth world and more.
Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, and Bill Finger are the ":Fathers" of DC. (Bob Kane also a little)
Stan Lee got his job from his uncle and has ALWAYS stolen credit that belonged to others, nothing he actually created was ever successful.
Image was founded by seven underpaid artists who left marvel to get much better pay and more equitable treatment as well as retaining full ownership of their work.

Superman was created in 1933 and predates Action 1 by a while they just want to take him back from DC.

LMFAO
I can either curse someone out or laugh over this. I'm going with laughing.
You have a disturbing amount of hatred for someone who doesn't exist, I know you claim to not hate him but c'mon we all see your posts that say otherwise.
DC's founding father was Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, who created multiple comic titles including National Allied Publications and Detective Comics, which was bought out by Jack S. Liebowitz and accountant Harry Donenfeld who both should never have been credited. Nowadays there are multiple writers and artists keeping the industry alive, such names are Jim Lee, Dan DiDio, Geoff Johns to name a few.
Hope this help ya'!

hahah that whole post was cold... you doin Stan Lee dirty. and you made marvel look like @
did jerry seigel/ joe shuster do more than creat supes? @$$holes by saying they treated there people bad
-@Cavemold:
Nah, Stan did Kirby, Ditko, Larry Lieber(Stan's brother) etc. dirty.
Joe Shuster+Jerry Siegel DC characters - Spectre, Superman, Slam Bradley, Dr.Occult.
Also why would anyone say Kirby for DC?? He didn't create any really significant heroes that have had any major contribution in DC's past success. Though once Darkseid makes his movie debut he would be able to take credit for having created DC's second most popular villain.

LOL, I love/hate how the fan answer for ALMOST everything DC related is Batman :P (I'm a batman fangirl but it didn't even came across my mind)
Hold up, stop posting in this thread everyone.
We've got to address something that just came up of monumental importance.

Yep, I can't believe people are forgetting about the man who brought us the Golden Age versions of Sandman, Flash, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Starman, The Justice Society of America; the Atom (Ray Palmer), Hawkman (Katar Hol), Zatanna, Barbara Gordon and The Justice League of America.

I think this is right for Image comics.

I think this is right. While Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson isn't prominently known by comic book aficionados, he is responsible for creating Detective Comics ( the comic book) which was National Allied Publications first successful comic book. It was issue #27 of Detective Comics that made the series a sensation. That issue premiered Batman. In time, Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson left National Allied Publications and started Detective Comics Inc. with Jack S. Liebowitzand and and Harry Donenfeld. "DC" Comics stands for Detective Comics. Then Detective Comics Inc.purchased National Allied Publications at an auction because National Allied Publications had gone bankrupt.Superman was DC Comics fourth title. I assume they purchased Superman from Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. And then DC Comics reintroduced National Allied Publications' Batman.
So really it was Bob Kane, Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, Jack S. Liebowitzand, and Harry Donenfeld, as well as Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. But if I had to pick one I'd say Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson.

Bob kane didnt have that much to do with batmans creation, bill finger was much more influential
Detective Comics used to be a pulp magazine that featured a variety of stories. It didn't exclusively feature Batman the way it does today. Bob Kane's Batman was just one of the many stories featured in the magazine.

Hell no.
Image wouldn't have survived it's first year without Todd Mcfarlane, much less be where it's at currently.

Believe me I'm not Rob's biggest fan, but his success during the nineties for new mutants and such allowed him image to actually get some notice. Don't get me wrong he's not the best person, just look at one Image's most successful characters Spawn (he wasn't created by Rob), but because Rob was a big name, it helped Image definitely.
As for Jack, He's as far back as I can go without getting clueless, and I honestly think he is the father of the modern comicbook era.

And Mcfarlane wasn't?
Mcfarlane did a fantastic job on both Spider-man and Batman as a writer and drawer. What "help" are you talking about, exactly?
Edit:
Now that I look at it, this looks like I'm being aggressive. Yet, I don't know how to reword it better, so I'll leave ya that note.

Nah no worries. I was saying him moving to Image as highly famous writer gave them extra publicity. But your right about Mcfarlane and Spider-Man :D. I really liked his art.

I freakin' love his art. His Spider-man is still my favorite spider-man look by far.
His Venom is the venom I will always picture in my mind, and so is his Mary Jane.

Image and Wildstorm Comics were created and founded by Jim Lee, if I recall.
image was created by a bunch of disgruntled creators namely Todd Mcfarlane, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino and Rob Liefield. Each of them had their own studio, all of which together consisted Image. Wildstorm was Jim Lee' s studio among them.
@cloudzackvincent: That's what I thought, Image was a creation of a bunch of top notch writers, artist, and publishers, but Wildstorm was Jim Lee's company, itself.
7 Image founders Whilce gets no love apparently.
Gardner Fox does deserve credit as well on the DC side.
Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson created no long lived characters
