If Nightwing was a killer vigilante, would he be better at it than Jason Todd?

Probably. He's a better fighter, he's much smarter, and he's an infinitely better leader if the effort involves building a vigilante network. He even proved during Grayson that he can be deadly effective with firearms. However, Nightwing's never gonna go there, it's a pretty core component of his character that he's the light of the Batfamily. That's what makes him interesting, and also what makes Jason interesting, because he doesn't share that quality.

@firestormfate1919: Oh, I don't disagree that it's not in NW's character to act like the Punisher. I merely ask this as a hypothetical (like an Elseworlds scenario where he has the same training and resources but a different mindset).

Is he really smarter though? Jason's not an idiot, especially not under Judd Winick's writing.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Dick Grayson is a lot smarter and more experienced. He would be a nightmare for criminals if he had Red Hood's willingness to kill.

Dick is playing on a higher field than Todd, simple as that. However it's worth noting that their training is different, Dick isn't trained to kill.

No because Batman would take him down before he could get anymore than 2 kills. A dark Dick Grayson isn't just a threat to villains, he's a threat to the League, to the Bat Family and to the moral of heroes everywhere.

Good point, though I doubt that he would be unable to take his usual gear and training in a more lethal direction.

If he went dark. He'd most likely get trained by Slade and I think that'd be cool.
