I would pick Image over both of them......

If it were only about the characters, then DC, but I get the impression Marvel was a better influence on the whole industry than DC.

DC mostly because of the Trinity, I can't imagine a world without Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

DC because if you got rid of Superman you'd lose the whole Superman vs Goku rivalry. It's a fun rivalry imo. DC also has better characters overall, imo. I'd hate to see Dr. Doom go, though. He's pretty cool.

Too narrow a question. If you mean "right now" and we're only talking comics...DC. If we're talking movies..Marvel. If we add TV and animation. DC. The toughest is if you mean comics and we're talking historically. Without DC, (particularly Superman) the whole genre isn't as we know it today. But..Marvel, especially in the 60's and 70's made the shift to comics being literature, or something resembling literature. End of the day, I'd vote DC as I like more of their characters. But if Marvel hadn't changed the game, (and had not a lot of their talent moved to DC in the 80's) DC would probably stink and I wouldn't bother with comics.
