Hulu is open to reviving the Marvel-Netflix shows

Recently, Craig Erwich, senior vice president of Hulu, they are open to taking on the Netflixverse shows that Marvel has cancelled.

“It kind of just depends on when they’re ready, [and] who, most importantly, is going to be behind these things.” Marvel still has to decide where these shows are going to live — if they live at all. But Hulu is recently making a compelling case.

“We’ve had a relationship with Marvel since Runaways, we’re getting into business on these animated shows,” Erwich said. “I’m sure it will lead to — you know, business gets you business — we have a good creative relationship with them. That’s where opportunities tend to arise.” These opportunities could involve, say, Daredevil, if the working relationship continues to be “good” and, more importantly, the results follow suit.

This shouldn't really be that big of a surprise, considering that in just the past few days, Hulu announced that they'd be producing 4 animated Marvel shows and that a third season of Runaways was very likely.

But the thing is Hulu is no where near as big as Netflix, im pretty sure its only available in the US.

I think this could end up being the best course of The Defenders shows. If Disney wants to keep Disney+ family friendly, then obvious they wouldn't want these types of shows on their service, but Hulu would have no issue with that whatsoever.

It is for now, but they've said that after the Disney-Fox merger they plan to go international.

Until they officially announce they’re reviving the Marvel Netflix shows on Hulu, i’m going to take it with a grain of salt. And when they do, it won’t be until the end of 2020 because their’s a clause on the Netflix shows that states Disney must wait two years from the time of cancellation to revive them. So it’s going to be quite a while, but I hope this comes to fruition.

I still think they're just being political and don't want to spark fan ire by definitively saying "no", much like the D+ comment. I think all the background politics has finally caught up with the Loebverse. It looks like he might be reduced to animated properties once they've done zoning out the shows for the MCU D+ shows.

Call me crazy, but I think there's a chance that eventually, Hulu could overtake Netflix. With Disney supporting them, I think it's a possibility.

I don't believe any of it. This is all lip service.

The Disney streaming service in general (including Hulu, I'm sure they'll come up with a package deal) will definitely eclipse Netflix in my opinion. The sheer amount of original content is too strong and anything Netflix has that isn't original content they can potentially outbid.

Praise Hulu if it's true. I think it's too cynical to just dismiss it out of turn as mere lip-service, but I'm not going to go and assume that for sure it will happen either. Still, it couldn't hurt either Hulu or Marvel to give it a go, so I'm going to try and remain hopeful/optimistic. Remember, YJ got it's third season after a prolonged period, so there's always hope.

IIRC Netflix still has the rights to them, right?

I don't really care about the Netflix MCU outside of Daredevil and that ended on a high note, so I'm indifferent to this. Maybe people are crying in anguish for more Trish Walker and Danny "I am the Immortal Iron Fist" Rand, though, so good news for them.

Not gonna happen. Netflix owns the entire rights to these spefic versions of these characters. They can’t do anything with these characters TV wise for years.

Found out about this 2 days ago and I've been hoping ever since.

Why?? Outside of two seasons of Daredevil they were all pretty meh. The viewing for every show pretty much declined as the shows went on as well. Not exactly a good sign.

@cattlebattle: I disagree with this. DD 1 and 2 were good. Jessica Jones was pretty amazing. Punisher both seasons were solid. Season 2 is probably my favorite netflix show overall. Although the high points of DD and Jess are up there, those shows both had points where they dragged.

Everything else imo wasn't just bland, it was pretty bad and got carried by the marvel name and Daredevil season 1 hype.

@tonymartial: totally agree hulu should take over the lost properties at netflix. There subscription revenue would definitely escalate. Their proposed animated series will be ok but it won't grab much attention.

I would have them develop a heroes for hire series rather than retry defenders for a second season but they may just do it anyway since they are creating the animated Offenders

@paytience: it kinda sucks that Netflix cancelled after they left us hanging on iron fist season 2 and I really wanted to see how Luke cage developed after being crowned kingpin of Harlem in season 2. It would have been a great opportunity for Netflix to develop a heroes for hire series

@mrmonster: I wonder if Netflix will renew Punisher for a third season since it doesn't fall under the same stipulations as the others. Plus Punisher is far more gritty than the others.

I doubt it. They seem pretty much done with The Defendersverse, I don't think Punisher will get a third season.

Loved all of the shows (barring IF season 1 and JJ Season 2), I can’t wait to see them again on any platform
