Poll: How Powerful is Thanos? What level is he? (50 votes)

Planetary 42%
Solar System 26%
Multi-solar system 12%
Galaxy 12%
Multi-galactic 2%
Universal 6%

When I am asking how powerful he is, this does not include artefacts.

So basically what is his overall power level?

These aren't power levels. This is destructive capability.

You're also relegating the character to simple battle board terminology.

This.

I think it´s kind of pointless to rank character by the length/size of an area, comic books rarely work that way.

Do you mean with his natural power or intelligence threat? Natural i saw solar system Thanos himself is a universal threat if/when he sets his mind to it and gets the power boost he needs.

Yeah Regulating because I am curious. I'm not rigging an election to overthrow a republic CHILL.

I am just curious in regards to where people place Thanos with his own abilities. What is wrong with that?

Yeah I can agree with that. In Thanos imperative, Lady Death leaves Thanos high and dry. Thanos threatens to destroy the universe, so Star Lord has to keep Thanos in the dying universe to prevent him from getting back and becoming a potential threat.

@odin619360: Not sure how you're getting that I'm not "chill" with that response.

And relegating, not regulating. Also known as pidgeonholing. You're narrowing the character down to one small category. It just doesn't work like that, at least in comics.

Yes, and I did that for a reason. I want to know his overall power level without powerful artefacts.

Really no reason whatsover to put him above solar system imo. Even then it would be due to him destroying a star which might cause it to go nova and take the planets which circle it down with it. Back in the 70's he even built his original Infinity stone weapon for the sole purpose of destroying suns which would seem to be saying he couldn't destroy stars under his own power.

Power is way more complex than how much you can destroy. Hax is most important. Thanos should be solar system to multi - solar system though.

Planetary. I don't see him defeating a solar system with a blast, although if there was a character in the form of a solar system I believe he could defeat them, if that makes sense.

Avatar image for superhero24

@odin619360:

People haven't given you a straight answer. I will. He has killed Silver Surfer easily. He was capable of defeating with difficulty a warrior madness Thor. He was capable of fighting Odin. He wasnt exactly doing great but still. I believe he even defeated a power stone amped Thor. The main power tiers are street level, herald level, transcendent or team busting, sky father, elder god, and cosmic abstract. Thanos is a transcendent. He can challenge and possibly even defeat a team of herald level characters. Silver Surfer and Thor are herald level characters.

In terms of DC without prep and unamped he is star level.

This defeat was referenced in the Spider-Man: Torment story arc in 1990, it's super canon.

Didn't Base Thanks survive a blast to the face from Odin?? Said blast could destroy solar systems, so yea... at the very least he's solar system lvl maybe higher depending on future base feats, but he doesn't have many since he's used as a cosmic-power-horse in marvel.

@sly_141: No real reason. If Thanos died he'd maybe be able to wipe out the moon with his residual energeries if you go by his own statement he told to Starlord I think If he went all out he'd destroy a star maximum

@kgb725:

Frieza can destroy planets, we've seen him do it twice. He uses all of his energy to hit Trunks with a planet busting attack, why doesn't Earth get destroyed?? King Cold even said they needed to leave before that energy destroyed the planet. So we know that blast would've done it.. why didn't it?? Same reason Odins didn't flatten Asgard, because the person tanking it did just that. Thanos/Trunks tanked the force of the blast leaving only the shockwaves to damage the surroundings. Same when SS attacked Thanos!!

@shadow411: in dbz they need to hit the planet or have the blast be close enough to destroy it like when it was thought Goku was going to kamehaha Cell also it helps when they actually try to destroy it

Zeus is lower on the totem pole than Odin. Zuras and Zeus are similar in power, and Thanos is above Zuras.The Morningstar said:

"I am going to say no, and it hurts my heart to go against Thanos. He may be godlike but Zeus's is a god."
Actually Thanos' godhood is acknowledged. And the Eternals have been treated/worshiped as Gods for millenia. Plus, being a 'god' is merely a title. It doesn't prevent you from having your ass kicked or being killed. Thor is a god and Thanos punks him (pre-Odinforce).https://comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/battles-7/thanos-vs-zeus-378019/I saw this very interesting comment on a battle thread, if this is true. Does this change anything?
