How many characters has Aaron built up then destroyed?

Thor:

- Gave him one of his best runs in "God of Thunder 2012".

- Then goes on to take his hammer, take his arm, destroy his history, personality and mythology.

Wolverine:

- Gave him one his best skill showings in "Manifest Destiny".

- Gives him an average run, but then finishes it off by having him lose bits of his memory and skill because of Dr Rot.

Is there anyone else?

The quality of the GoT run is on par with some of the best Thor runs of the past three decades, then he destroyed everything and demeaned the character. With Logan the run was decent without being exceptional, and I don't think partial loss of memory is that much of a problem.

Doesn't the final issue in Aaron's Wolverine include Logan demolishing every single villain in his rogues gallery at the same time? That's a hell of a way to bid farewell. With Thor, the embarrassment keeps going on and on without end.

Oh, and I thought it's a question between the two (Thor/Logan).

His Hulk run was borderline atrocious, his Ghost Rider was OK. The Avengers are currently a joke, but he hasn't even bothered to build them up so it does not qualify for the thread.

He has a good grasp of Conan's character thus far, though.

@morpheus_: Conan The Barbarian's plot has some similar prospects with respect to God of Thunder tbh.

@saiyan_ross: True, but alternating between various points of Conan's life from thief/pirate/mercenary to king of Aquilonia is not that uncommon, even in his Dark Horse volumes. I agree that the overt manner in which Aaron ties the plot rightfully draws comparisons to GoT, though.

Odin but that goes along with Thor and most of the characters surrounding him

Wolverine doesnt qualify, he gave us old man phoenix force wolverine.

God of thunder was just Aaron wanking thor for an entire issue, same as he later did with jane thor and unworthy thor. I mean he had thor bust planets with the shockwaves of his blows while weakened by the necrosword eating away at his muscles and organs

Aaron is one of my all time favorite writers. His ability to write creator owned stories is incredible and has some brilliant ideas. However, he doesn't handle all too well writing already existing characters. He tends to have a strong start, one which is memorable and will stick into the reader's mind, but after a while he just forgets about the character's history and does whatever he wants.

Thor, Hulk, kind of the Avengers, all these concepts are concepts for which he has a true grasp, understands the characters, however he totally denies to write them in character.

He brought him back in Original Sin.

After that, he was destroying him.

Definitely Thor and Odin got it worst.

God Butcher, The Accursed and Last Days of Midgard were good. Then Original Sin happened and he took away Thor's hammer, name, dignity, retconned his backstory and turned him into a bad imitation of MCU Thor and a walking punching bag in his Avengers run.
