Q: Has it aged well?
Q: How does it compare to its sequels and every other MCU movie?
A: I think it's the best in the Iron Man movie series. It's one of the best in the MCU...maybe THE best in the MCU.
Q: What can we learn from it rewatching it in 2017?
A: Well I watched Iron Man 2 & Iron Man 3 on Air Emirates because I had never watched them before. The only Iron Man I had seen was Iron Man 1 many years ago in the cinema and I loved it...would've given it a 10/10. Now I would give Iron Man 1 an 8/10. It had dark, gritty scenes (like the one with the terrorists) and it was more realistic compared to its sequels. There were also moments of pure badassery and Iron Man looked like a saviour to the innocent victims (he was like a Superman figure...a God-like figure). More recent MCU films lack the seriousness and cinematography quality that Iron Man 1 had & most MCU films can't get the badassery level to the Iron Man 1 standard
It sort of cracks me up to see people referencing Iron Man like it came out so long ago that it doesn't hold up as well now. Then I remember that for many posters on here it might have been released when they were still in like elementary school and seem like a really long time ago. Scary how time goes by like that.
@don_higashikata: Come on don't push it. There are plenty of MCU films with better CGI than the original Iron Man. Doctor Strange, both Guardians, and Winter Soldier to name a few
Strange and Guardians were prettier but 2008 Iron Man had the most convincing CGI, especially compared to how he looks now.
I don't see people talking about him much but I really liked Jeff Bridges's character. He had great screen presence, acted well and overall did an impressive job playing Iron Monger.
Not really a surprise considering he's a terrific actor and a big name in Hollywood in the first place but I didn't really like how he was removed from the equation that easily.
Regarding the movie itself, I'd just say it has aged very well. You still feel Tony Stark's swagger and lovable eccentrics. Tony Stark from the first Iron Man movie is a very lovable character. The supporting cast was good too. Also since it was the first movie, it had no strings tied to any other movie, no cameos except the Fury scene, no pressures to you know carry the story of the MCU as a whole forward. It could focus on itself. So you like it. It's like a stand-alone. Really entertaining.
