How do you feel about Kevin Feige wanting to include openly gay characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
As long as it’s a character who’s gay in the comics. And as long as the character is good.
People get to bent out of shape about this shit for no reason.
@cocacolaman: I said "how DO you feel", not "how WOULD you feel".
LOL, he probably doesn't really even care. He will be crucified by shit lib click bait websites and the blue check twitter and the alphabet mafia if he doesn't though, so, better bend that knee.
@cattlebattle: But he's ok with being crucified by the right? He could be genuinely sympathetic to the gay community and wants to represent them.... or he could be business-minded entirely.
@richubs: Same. I am not so happy about it but I'm not nearly sensitive enough to be angry about it.
It's okay to have an openly gay character.
It's just annoying for media figureheads to continue pooping out social media news that's equivalent to having a giant flashing neon sign that says in big lettering "I'm gay. That's my definitive trait. Make a big deal about me".
I'm not happy or disappointed. I'm just rolling my eyes to the feeling of "disinterest".
I misread the title as having every character be gay. I’d be fine with gay people if it wasn’t a constant shove-it-in-our-face thing.
If the character is gay in comics, but not to rub it on our face in movie/tv show every 5second with "look y'all!! I'm GAY!!".
Its not a big deal if he includes a gay character. Buuuut wording it as he "wants" to include a gay character makes it seem more forced and that the end goal is to have a gay character rather than a good character who happens to be gay.
I honestly don't care as long as they don't shove it in your face.
No. No, I left LoT because of the LGBT agenda, don't make me leave the MCU as well. rather than highlighting useless things, it's better to focus on featuring Gwen Stacy, the real MJ, recast nerd Flash Thompson, Fantastic 4, Doctor Doom. make an interesting story line.
Depends. If it's an established homosexual comic character? Go for it. If they have good chemistry (like the missed poe/Finn ship in star wars) go for it. If its being done just so they can have those cringe college recruitment cards that manage to have just the perfect amount of minorities to show how awesomely diverse they are? Pass.
@stealthgrey: What if there isn't much of an agenda pushed and the character just happens to be gay but doesn't receive special attention because of it, isn't highlighted anymore than all the straight characters?
if the character was created gay from the start and exists in the comics and is not a forced character just to include gay ppl than its not a problem.
anything else should stay in the corner where it belongs.
I may actually be in the minority here, but yeah I’d be happy about it. Not necessarily making a straight character gay for the movies, but it’s about time we have a gay character where them being gay isn’t just a footnote or an afterthought.
I honestly find it more annoying when a character is allegedly gay, but the only way it’s referenced is a quick glance at a character of the same sex or a tweet by JK Rowling
I don't like it.
Showing a man or a woman grounding his or her identity in his or her sexual behavior isn't something that kids should have to deal with in their Disney entertainment.
Movie makers don't need to bring up anything that glorifies disordered sexual activity to kids. Any type of lust shouldn't be glorified whether it be fornication, self-gratification, contraception use, pornography, or sodomy. It doesn't lead to joy and kids should be encourage to live lives of joy.
I don't like how Deadpool is going to be a part of the MCU either.
Who other than pedophile movie makers, would want to take all the time and the money to direct scenes for children to deal with sexually disordered behavior?
If it’s done correctly then nobody should feel anything because it should just be a normal character
I think it's good news as long as it's either a new character or a character who is gay in the comics as well, rather than needlessly altering an existing character. I'm always happy when minorities can get more representation on the big screen.
There's openly gay people in the actual universe, so there ought to be openly gay people in fictional universes as well. Otherwise you're making a conscious choice to make your fictional reality different from the actual reality, and that begs the question of why you feel the need to do that.
If he brings in a already gay character and just gives them more screen time, like Northstar Or NTW or something, fine. I could rant a out how much I hate NTW but this is not the thread.
If he makes up a new character that is gay and they just plot up and roll out the character well, fine. I do not ever see the MCU brining in any new characters though.
If he beings in a character that was not gay before and makes them gay to appease the like less that 1% of fans who would care enough about it, not fine at all.
The X-men have had multiple gay characters associated with it, use one of them.
This brings up a pretty interesting topic: Would a supersoldier serum that fixes all genetic defects be able to "cure" gayness?
Regardless of whether or not you think being homo is okay or not, you cannot deny that from an evolutionary perspective lacking the genetic traits that promotes sexual attraction for reproductive success is considered a major genetic disadvantage. Would a super soldier serum designed to turn a human into the optimal specimen simply override whatever inferior genetic variation that causes homosexuality with ones that promote peak reproductive success?
Ah, I can hear the beautiful outrage already. I wonder how many SJWs would be okay with a gay man turning into a straight superhero.
@infantfinite12: Are you religious?
@wut: There are already openly gay characters in the comics so they can include those characters, they should never change an established heterosexual character though.
@alavanka: Why? If you have the tech needed to do the level of genetic modification to create super soldiers then the tech to artificially create humans through insemination or even cloning would be easily attainable, ergo, at that point, its a pointless endeavor to try and remove that sexual orientation 'in da name of da species'.
@ghostodoofus2: still by displaying and explaining that they are gay characters, that means there is a special message to be conveyed. after all what is the importance of sexual activity in the presence of the majority of children? I am an adult but almost every time I watch a superhero movie in the cinema most of the audience is children. just seeing a kiss scene might be uncomfortable for some parents. and in my belief that homosexuality is a sexual deviation.
I think this is a good thing, as long as they don't make it cringy or on the nose.
But I bet it's gonna make salty far right dickheads mad.
I don't think there's anything wrong about it, the plot and acting is what makes a movie good anyways
If it’s done correctly then nobody should feel anything because it should just be a normal character
This.
Why would you be disappointed by this?
"Gay characters existing = LGBT agenda ruining stories!!!1!"
Poor snowflake, I'm sure people will be really sad to see you leave the MCU
