How do you feel about Carol Danvers?

I liked her in the X-Men comics from the 80s and early 90s.

I did kind of like her until Marvel turned her into a manish psychopath, up until that point she seemed like a decent character that I only really seen in small roles in other books.

@blindinglights: is she very different now? I only really know her from Busiek’s Avengers and the Ms Marvel comic in the mid-00s as well as a couple of classic comics and she seems a reasonably consistent character.

She's a cool character that I could see as Marvels WW. Just Civil War 2 put a big scar on her character and they've yet to redeem it.

@purpleperson: I think the only modern things i have read with her were Civil War 2 and New Avengers, both written by Bendis. In X-Men she shared Rogue's body after Rogue completely absorbed her personality and took over as the dominante personality in Rogue's body a few times. She seemed like a completely different character back then.

@blindinglights: From what little I read of her she seemed like Black Canary as personality goes.

She was great as Ms Marvel, now it's hard to even think of her as the same character.

She was alright before but CW2 essentially ruined her character for me. To me it seemed like her actions eventually led to the demise of War Machine, Hulk, Iron Man, among others which would be fine if it were for a legit reason...

You'd think that in a world full of time travelers that predicting the future wouldn't be game changing but apparently it was enough to send her overboard...

I can't forgive her for trying to recruit X-Men just after the terrorist attack of Purifiers.

Despite what Marvel wants her to be, their Wonder Woman basically, I have a very hard time liking Carol. And it's for her actions in both Civil War's where she comes across as a massive prick most of the time who justifies what she does by 'being right'. Like I think it was after her bringing in one of the Spiderwomen by beating her into the ground in front of her daughter, that she went on to defend it by calling it a privileged to be able to uphold the law.

And the second Civil War was pretty much of the same, she had Ulysses, she was getting results and that was pretty much all that mattered. But I am aware that quite alot of the scenes that seemed very rough, like when she and her boys came piling down on top of some ex-con and dragged him away during a family night, was 'fixed' later on, like said guy showing up telling Danvers she was right and he was stupid to keep his old malfunctioning gadget in the garage. Despite all of that, Carol really comes across as a 'might makes right' type of person.

Side note: Those scans with Emma and her white lipstick... jeez...

She was pretty much cool before SJW Marvel.

@kairan1979: Yeah, I recall that issue, and it's still as funny as I remember. It's funny that Emma Frost demands sympathy from someone after her students were killed by crazy people when her own past consists of mass murder, child endangerment, conspiracy, actions that might be considered "zealotry", rape, if your definition of that word includes her intruding in people's minds and controlling them, enabling rape (I am pretty sure she let Shaw fug her when she was in Storm's body), torture etc.

Emma Frost being a good guy was one of the weirdest ideas writers have ever had.

I like her. A lot of people are just mad because she no longer wears a skimpy costume.

Maybe the MCU will make Storm their Wonder Woman now?

She was okay as Ms marvel but now she's one of the biggest asshole in the marvel universe.

Horrible character

Hadn't read anything with her before CW2, so can't say I had any feelings towards her, positive or negative but man, they sure made her unlikable in that event.

I used to really like her as Ms.Marvel.

I don't like her anymore.

She's just okay.
