How do people like the flash or even anime characters like Goku or Cell move at such high speeds and not crash while making sharp turns. I'm talking about running only by the way. Wouldn't it be harder to change direction going at Mach 50?

*edit* Exclude those that have speedforce as a power, because apparently you can do anything with that. So running superman, goku, sonic, anyone, how do they make sharp turns without crashing, would it be physically possible?

@vptwarrior: It's fiction man, what the writer wants to happen, it happens, making sharp turns while going at superspeed is not the craziest defiying physics thing that's been writen.

Superspeed = super speed perception too so it's just like normal running for them. They cant just run fast, they can think fast, read fast, eat fast, etc.

Whether it's harder or not to turn at that speed idk but it doesnt matter really the word of god is that of the writer inside the comic.

Speed force is functionally magic. Let's him control his inertia and turn on a dime. While if he did follow physics, he would fail to turn for the same reason a car can't turn 90 degrees on a dime.

Other characters simply don't mention it and others use time manipulation instead of just moving fast (which makes complete sense and explains how you don't hit like a literal freight train)

@marvelanddcfan24: What does perception have to do with turning and stopping on a dime at high speed?

Really sturdy legs? Flash/Barry (in the New-52) needed traction in order to stop himself or turn which is why Batman exploited this weakness with the Justice League Buster, as long as he has any amount of surface below his feet, he should be able to stop quickly. Wally in Post-Crisis, while still learning, had a rough time trying to stop or turn abruptly, but he mastered it later on so I think extensive experience with Super Speed is a significant factor also.

The slowed down world trope is just a representation of the speedster's senses, but we have to keep in mind that that isn't what's actually happening. The speedster doesn't have time manipulation powers. He's not actually moving normally while the world is slowed down, he's moving incredibly fast so it would be incredibly hard to turn and control because laws of physicals still apply, regardless of how slowly the speedster is perceiving things.

But as said, this is hardly the most egregious of fictional story shortcuts. This is something I can just wink off pretty easily.
