Henry Cavill in talks to return as Superman/Clark Kent

EXCLUSIVE: While there is not a Man of Steelsequel in the works, we’re hearing that Henry Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as Superman in the Warner Bros. DC Universe.

We hear Cavill could come back in a couple of different ways, not a standalone film, but there are plans to put him back in the big red cape again sources with knowledge tell us.

Warner Bros. is not developing a Man of Steel sequel, and Wonder Woman 1984, Suicide Squad are in the can, and Superman isn’t expected to make a cameo in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Other projects where Cavill could make a cameo are Shazam 2, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam or Aquaman 2, which are the next productions to be prepped once COVID-19 safety restrictions lift.

While I’m certainly not against a MoS sequel by any stretch, I’m kinda ok with him being a supportive type character should they do it right. For years I’ve given Warners a hard time about constantly doing Batman and Superman flicks over-and-over again, and ignoring all the other great characters they have...now they are finally giving other characters that aren’t Batman/Superman some shine so I’d be a complete hypocrite to back track now.

This just sounds to me like they’re going use Cav-El in a supportive role until the DCEU as we know it runs its course, and then the next time we see Superman in a solo feature it’ll be with a different actor and completely new take on the character

The guy refused to do the Shazam cameo for money. Didn't tweet in support of Snyder when literally everyone else did. If he doesn't change his attitude, there is not gonna be a Man of Steel 2 with Cavill in it.

Finally, WB understands Superman is a boring character that cannot carry a movie. Him playing supporting character to successful interesting DC characters is a step in right direction.

Thought he was a fairly decent Superman/CK, but MoS was a disappointment. Few well-placed cameos could be a good alternative to another film.

I think Cavill does good for Superman, I wouldn't really blame him for MoS's failure or anything since Superman seems kind of hard to make interesting. Would be nice to see Superman used in better ways though.

Damn. I like him as an actor, but beyond his looks, he doesn't work as Superman at all. He's better as darker, edgier characters like Geralt and John Lark.

I think he was pretty good in Man of Steel and Justice League (despite the whole mustache thing) so I hope he makes another appearance.

MoS was a good movie, I don't get why people hate it.

@rbt: Or opposite conclusion, he didn't do any of those because he wanted to be on WBs good graces. I mean he literally was on the Snydercut reveal so he's hardly on bad terms with him either.

He probably feels like he could have done more with it. That's a pretty big role considering that is one of the most popular fictional characters in the world.

Hate to see that he won’t get a sequel, this may not be a popular opinion but I love MOS and think that Cavill really did the character justice

Worst live action Superman impostor pretending a Superman and played by this artificial actor. Nicolas Cage at least looks goofy.

Even that cosplay looks better because quality of costume is identic as MOS movie's and this Superman has more personality and smiling

I mean you can't blame them for not wanting to drop Superman because it's freaking Superman . He's one of the main faces of DC comics and you can't just make a DC cinematic universe featuring Justice League characters without him.

I like him, despite Snyder's best efforts, so woudn't mind to see him in future. But honestly, I kinda doubt this rumor.

I love Henry Cavill as Superman, I also am a big fan of his role in The Witcher.

He's not a bad actor, always put it on the director when someone don't have much to work with.
