Has The Mandalorian season 3 been disappointing so far?
No it’s been amazing lol. Awesome character development, lore/world-building, and action. Idk where you got that from.
@nassergrant19: Really? I didn't feel like Mando was even a focal character this season, they allowed Bo-Katan to appear more competent. Grogu feels so.... pointless now, he's just there as a commercial attraction.

I mean that’s the point. Fleshing out the other characters so the conflict pay off will feel more meaningful. We know everything we need to know about Mando. Learning about other people is what makes the lore and world building do brilliant. I’d say it’s way better than S2 filler episodes with Frog lady. Commercial attraction? Grogu literally got his full Order 66 backstory and is still being discovered. So huge disagree with everything you said tbh.
*S3 premiere*
Lmao, not every premiere has the same viewer number and in no way does that indicate quality. Kenobi had the highest premiere viewership and we know how that turned out💀.
@nassergrant19: never said anything about the quality. I just stated the fact that I am not alone in not watching season 3 of the mandalorian

Same way it’s a fact I’m not alone with the massive amount of people who are watching it and blowing up YouTube/Twitter/Tiktok etc with content about it.
Also premiere=/=show
I’ve liked it so far. The latest two episodes have probably been the best of the season all around. Not sure how I feel about them transitioning Bo Katan to a more prominent role, but I think it can work.
Didn't like what they did with him and Grogu in Boba Fett, that's probably why i'm not watching it right now. I'll watch it at some point tho.
The story writers struggle to combine multiple stories in a single episode, instead focusing a entire episode on one event. It makes the show move at a snails pace.
The entire Pershing episode could have been accomplished in segments of multiple episodes. The reveal wasn’t even that shocking.
Apparently it did even worse than Booba Fatt in terms of viewership. A pretty impressive feat given the abysmal quality of that particular show.

Edit: 40% Viewership Drop From Season 2 To Season 3

@killbilly: Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi for that matter can be blamed for the low views of both the season 3 premiere and Andor. The low views are more attributable to prior failings than the actual quality of the premiere. That being said, the premiere wasn't good anyway.

Obi Wan was deeply disappointing, and quite bad. BOBF on the other hand was straight up garbage.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is Okay I guess. The last couple of Episodes was Pretty Good but I think it was Episode 3 that was just Awful outside of the first few minutes and the last few minutes. It's not as Good as Season 1 or Season 2 IMO.
It's still something to watch.
@frozen: Yep and The Bad Batch's existence is hardly even justifiable, it's just there to reap money, not to give back to paying consumers their money's worth.
So since the beginning of last year we've gotten two awful shows: Boba and Kenobi, one good show: Andor, a terrible second season of The Bad Batch, a good but short anthology series: Tales of the Jedi and now a mid Mandalorian season 3. This current state is far from enough to make up for the disaster that is the sequel trilogy. If they keep this up, Star Wars is done man.
@king_saturn: The final three episodes of this season better be crazy good or season 4 is gonna have even less viewers and the show will be done sooner than they'd hoped.

I agree. It does not help that the desire for Star Wars stuff is drying up as a whole already. If Mandalorian fails this could be The End for Star Wars for a while.
@king_saturn: Like Frozen's thread suggested, the only way to restore SW's glory is to de-canonize the sequels and re-canonize the EU. I think that can be achieved with a multiverse concept which has sort of already been introduced by the World Between Worlds. A multiverse would make everything canon, the few sequels fans can stay happy with the sequels continuing, the Mandalorian can go on without being forced to accommodate for the events of the sequels and EU fans can appreciate their beloved EU content again.

I mean I guess that could work. They need quality material coming out though.
@king_saturn: Yeah and you can never trust Disney, they prioritise on quantity, never quality.

The character named Wrecker is a strong but dumb brute, the character named Tech is a smart but socially awkward nerd and the character named Hunter is the silent broody leader without many identifying character traits outside of generally being a "good guy" and Crosshair is edge incarnate.
What's not to love?
Edit: Almost forgot about "HUNTAAAAAAAAAAH!"
@killbilly: Lol yeah they're just stereotypes deriving from pre-established templates, none of them are interesting. The TMNT are basically that except they've wayyyyy more personality on top of their core traits and there's actual social dynamic between them. Omega is just slowly being built up to upstage Hunter.
Now we know why this show is called The Bad Batch. It really is a bad batch of SW content.

Am I the only one who likes Bad Batch? :(
Season 2 has been much better in my opinion. A lot of great episodes (particularly the Crosshair solo missions) and the finale was great.

Yeah, that's another thing, lol. They don't feel like a tight knit group at all despite apparently going on these life endangering missions with each other for years. It's weird to me that random clones working together in TCW episodes often had friendlier interactions and banter than these clones who only really have each other and essentially claim to be this close knit family drawn together by their shared genetic abnormality.
The members of the BB generally don't interact with each other much ( the main interactions seem to consist of Tech implying Wrecker's dumb, bragging about his own intelligence, Wrecker getting excited about smashing something, Crosshair and Hunter doing variations of brooding or Echo just being left out entirely, lol ).

Admittedly, I haven't checked out Season 2 but I've heard it was pretty similar to Season 1.
@killbilly: Yeah I noticed that too, they never once displayed hints of bromance despite a supposedly rich history of fighting side by side and having each other's backs. No personal connections with one another.
I watched episode 1 of season 2, found that it was the same BS from season 1 so I quit. I've better shows to watch.

Check out Venture Bros if you're looking for something old but gold. I binged all 7 seasons recently and am already considering a rewatch. The show oozes personality and the world is incredibly intricate and detailed.
@ghostodoofus2: What bugs me about the BB is....I don't feel the Special Forces angle from them? Like they are touted as Special Forces, yet I see some issues that would be completely detrimental to being a Special Forces squad. I feel like they only could get by, because their opposition is completely stupid.
It's the same with Taskforce 99 only much worse....oh does anyone remember SCAR Squadron? Anyone at all?
@ghostodoofus2: I agree with you I think a multiverse, or multiple timelines being created by TWBW, could save Star Wars. It would keep the sequel fans happy and wouldn’t disrespect the actors in those movies because they would still technically be canon (just a lame alternate timeline), and it would give free reign to create new stories without being tied down by the sequel canon.

You’re not. I’ve enjoyed it as well. And yeah season two has been much better. Character development has been good for some, not great for others.
@mr-yes: glad someone else liked it :)
Tech quickly became my favorite character, and the Crosshair solo outings were a great change of pace from the regular Bad Batch formula. Episode 12 and that finale hit me hard.

Yeah, agreed with pretty much everything you said. Wish the others got as much development though. Hunter and Omega were decent, but Wrecker got close to zero development lol.
@mr-yes: I mean, I didn't mind too much. Wrecker got a lot of time in the spotlight in season 1 to hang with Omega, so putting their relationship on the backburner to explore the other members was a good idea in my opinion. Hunter's always been the most boring Bad Batch member in my opinion, but he got some decent development and they at least tried to explore the fatherly angle some more, particularly in the Pabu episodes.
@a_fine_edition: Fair. I agree Hunter is the most boring, Wrecker’s just got the least development. At least, in this season. The Pabu episodes were boring but wholesome, and were definitely peak development for Hunter this season, which is, tbh, kinda sad.
I’ve loved everything to do with Crosshair and Tech, on the other hand. The finale hit hard asf.
The final reveal felt really forced though.
@mr-yes: Agreed. I totally called the reveal though. It was way too apparent with the VAs having similar accents.
I'm enjoying it so far so I don't really feel disappointed. The show seems to be moving towards retaking Mandalore but it's always been a fairly episodic show
Finished episode 6, I've lost hope. Jon and Dave created something great but Kathleen Kennedy had to ruin it.

This makes no sense whatsoever. If you're not enjoying the direction that Jon and Dave are taking this season, just accept it.
@rhubarb: Kennedy's the boss who calls the shots, they have to work within the confines of her demands. It was definitely her idea to force Grogu back into the story when he should've been left with Luke.

That's correct, but its highly unlikely that she dictates everything that happens, she is not the showrunner.

Unless you have a verifiable source for that statement (which is not Doomcock), then my previous post applies here:

I'm all in on Star Wars. I always have been. Sure some things are not quite as good as others. But to the point, I'm enjoying the dive into Mandalorian culture. And while the last bit with Jack Black and Lizzo was rather silly, it did show how Mandalorians can find a place in the galaxy.

I like PR a lot. But SW is not supposed to be that.
