Has superman really defeated Darkseid?

Not trying to start flame wars or anything. Just want the truth. Has he ever beaten the real Darkseid or is it avatars or PIS?

Iirc superman has defeated him 2 times during post crisis . In Apokolips now and Superman - batman : supergirl of krypton. These were just bad writing. Superman should never be able to beat darkseid.

Didn't Final Crisis retcon any meetings between Darkseid and Superman to it always having been an Avatar and that they haven't actually met before?

Also New 52 Superman got one shotted by Darkseid lol, that's how their fights should be.

From what i can recall of, Morrison intended his interpretation of Darkseid in FC, to be more of an amalgamation of every prior existing Darkseid portrayal in continuity. This is why the avatars are only recognized as "facets" of the true core concept of Darkseid. The same sort of thing happens in All Star Superman, that there is only a conceptual version of the "primal" Superman, taking inspiration from past iterations and merging them into a singular being. In other words, it was only to reconcile the differing Darkseid portrayals, not to render them irrelevant.

So those instances where Superman has had a victory against Darkseid, have never been retconned from my understanding.

Yeah but according 2 DC supes only ever beats the avatar of darkseid NOT the true abstract being which makes A LOT of sense since darkseid has bodied the original 7 JLA (including supes) by himself
